Actually killing a federal judge brings a lot more public interest than their family getting killed in a home invasion.

You may not have any leverage over this specific judge, but lots of other judges on other cases will be paying all kinds of attention when they get pictures of their families left on the kitchen counter top along with POV camera footage stills of the hit on another family.

There was some talk recently about a certain supreme court judge that supposedly had "their house broken into while they were away" and oddly enough right after that pretty much flipped ideological sides in all but official title.
