So I searched and didn't come up with anything conclusive. I'm looking for details on this powder. I've read the hype and I want to know if any of it is actually true. I'm looking at running it in my new 6mm and possibly even my 260 if it does well. Does anyone have*any*experience with this stuff? Is it temp stable? Does it heat up the barrel quickly? You can't just gain a bunch more fps without something giving. Any help would be awesome and any experiences would be great to hear. Thanks in advance!

I began testing Hodgdon Superformance Powder in my 260 this past weekend. This is a custom build using a 26" Bartlein 5R 8.5 barrel. So far I’ve only done pressure testing with 123 SMKs and Lapua 139s.

The good news so far is, I was able to get over 3150 fps with the 123s and over 3000 fps with the 139s with no overpressure signs! I’ve gained over 150 fps from H4350 with both of these bullets.

Will post my accuracy tests, once they’re complete

Please do, I'd love to hear them. If it will get the 142's over 2900 in my gun I'm in. It's gotta be temp stable though. I shoot matches all over and don't want to deal with big velocity swings. I eagerly await your results!

I have an 8lb jug of Superformance so I can do a few tests and see how it performs in a 260 and 25-06. My 6mmAI is at the 'smith but it may also perform well in that.

I'll post results once I am able to get out and shoot.

I've been using it in a 7mm WSSM (similar to 7mm-08) and it does seem significantly quicker than other powders I've tried like H414, IMR4350, WXR, and 4831. I'm getting 2970fps with a hornady 162gr in a 28" barrel and no pressure signs. That is a full case. I can fit more by compressing it but the velocity variation gets worse.

Anyone else it there have data? My powder/bullets arrived. Plan to put a load together in the next couple weeks.

I'll post back when I have some more intel. Looking to see what it will do with the 124 AMAX and 140 AMAX.

I had a chance to try this powder in a 7mm-08 with hornady 162HPBT. I was getting over 2900fps with a full case and mag primers. Regular primers were about 50fps less. The burn rate seems a bit slow for the 708, so heavy bullets and mag primers help. I'll probably try some 180's at some point also, but they start to reduce case capacity when loaded to magazine length. I remembered this thread and also found this when searching:

I read Southpaws thread a week ago and was intrigued. I have an 8# keg of SF so off I went. I ran the same testes he did, but with Lapua brass, which is thicker. The rifle is a .260. Initial testing shows great promise. I was going to run a full velocity test this week and add to Southpaws post for Lapua brass, with his permission of course!! At. 48.3 with a 123 scenar i'm getting .4 groups and just guessing from my standard zero the rounds are getting above 3100 and no pressure signs at all. Will do the velocity thing next week and hopefully have some good info for posting.
