Home Depot Cofounder Bernie Marcus Blames Socialism for ‘Lazy,’ ‘Fat,’ ‘Stupid’ Labor Force

So everybody crapping on the old guy read that article right? Hes 93 and hasn't been associated with HD for just over 20 years. He doesn't give a fuck about the people he's describing. He's just telling what he sees.

So what you are saying is he is a super rich super old fucker who has more money than he'll ever spend, doesn't have a clue about what it's like for the working class right about now but feels everybody should listen to him bitch about the poor not working hard enough for the rich?

Those who don’t want to work at prevailing wages are going to find out within a few years that they’ve really fucked themselves. Demand $20 / hr at a Burger joint? That’s close to the cost of full automation (aka no employees at that location, possibly a manager part time, meals are 100% automation prepared to order by machines).
Automating a warehouse store is a little more expensive, but at ~$25/ hour those start looking good.

Same shift is starting in white collar jobs thanks to AI, but minimum wage jobs are changing big time.

They can't even keep their damn soft serve machine running but they are going full automation?

I call bs.

Pretty much. But in all fairness he's not bitching about them not working hard enough, he's just calling them fat, lazy and stupid.

The old man may be retired but he is right.

Again, in my industry, especially in my company, you can make really good money. But you have to show up and work. And, no, you don't get an office. That's my job and it is stressful in ways that you cannot imagine. I already spent a few decades being a dirt bunny. Anyway, the name of the job is to dig by hand. A lot. Our crews average 300 feet a day at 18 inches deep. And they are in their 50s. What's the difference?

A combination of generational culture and a genetic mutation. The mutation is that they were born with testicles that produce testerone.

Secondly, their generation, often freshly from Mexico, knows that all work is hard. But you make more money at it in the USA and we, so far, have less cholo saturation here than in Juarez, for example. And yeah, someone go ahead and tell me I am spelling cholo wrong. We are not underpaying anyone and they have SSNs and we take money for taxes and send that in. We are paying them what we would pay anyone who would show up and do the work.

And we have hired people who are not mexican. And they run into the first day of some hard work. Maybe a total of 100 feet of digging on a job, shared between 2 or 3 people. And that wears the guy out. Talk about a little baby. Seriously, one guy left from the job and never came back. Not for the sweater he left. Or his paycheck.

So, it is a difference between those who understand what a wage is and what it takes to earn and those who think the world owes them bread and circuses just because they can fog up a mirror.

Now, I must admit my bias, it's only fair. I have been surrounded by people in the military and I would have also served but had a medical disqualification. Uncle Sam wants you healthy before you go off to die. So many served to keep the freedoms we have, to ward off the evil of communism. And communism is evil. Socialism is the stepping stone to communism and they always, always, always lead to starvation and genocide. There has never been a time that it has not led to that. Or a violent revolution along the lines of what Robes-Pierre led.

Tell me you have never worked a job like that in any capacity without telling me you’ve never worked a job like that. There are some skilled people that work those jobs at times and they will run the dog shit out of you.

Yeah if those companies get a good employee they will run them ragged. The reward for a good work ethic is more work.

I worked for a company in the 90s. I used to make the joke, which was more truth than funny. Our Christmas bonus is when the boss said he would see you the next business day after Christmas. That means you had a job to come back to. Ah, good times. He was so tight that he had tires that would not only stop on a dime, they would pick it up, too.

We used to hear a loud squealing sound and then realized that was him pinching a quarter so tight that you could hear the eagle shit.

I’ve always wondered about this crap. I think it’s intentional. I have never worked in the food industry before so I have no idea what’s involved. Is there something hard about working a shake machine because they are always out or down or something. I call BS also.

I think there is (could be wrong about this) some sort of contract agreement between the manufacturer of the machine where their technicians have to fix it for warranty reasons or some b.s. This came from a 20 y.o. manager so take it with a grain of salt.

Very well could have been a bs excuse by the manager.

The manager that told you is correct.

An example of the kind of "progress" to look forward to when they try to fully automate their store.
They will be at the mercy of someone bigger than them who doesn't give a crap and only cares about money and would rather they go broke because their machines don't work right than let somebody else fix it.

That kind of automation also breeds an underclass who are dependent on socialist policies to survive. Trump understood that we need to bring business back to America, bring back manufacturing etc.
