Has anyone shot any deer or antelope with these bullets? How about coyotes? Im looking for a 105gr to shoot out of my new 1in8 Lilja chambered in 6x47Lapua. Thanks

Probably doesn't help much as I am not sure about that specific one, but the 68gr HPBT match in 223 rem pencils in pencils out without doing much damage at all, and then ricochets when shooting jackrabbits.

I dont know about the hornadys but 190smks out of a 300wm is alsome.Ive killed three deer 2at 200 yards and 1 at 390 yards.Two at 200 was neck shot the one at 390 was high shoulder where it came out was the size of a beer can , it ran about 30yards.Hope that helped.

A lot of guys out there say they shoot match bullets in hunting situations and have success. I am a firm believer that the two types should not cross over. Hunting bullets are constructed for expansion for a reason. If it hasn't happen to those guys yet it will eventually cause them to not anchor the game animal they are after. I don't have any experience with deer huntin with a match type bullet because I would never try it (I owe it to the deer). This is just my opinion so I am sure some will disagree but, you can take it for what it's worth. Go bonded.

Apples to oranges, but I killed a deer, & an elk last year with 225gr hpbt out of my 300wm. Deer was @ 185yd, & elk was yd@ 300. Both were pass throughs with golfball size exit on the elk, & softball size on the deer.

Heavy AMAX's work like a ballistic tip, some say better/more consistent. I've used the 168's in 308 an 06 with good results. (On PA whitetail) This match question comes up here ALOT. My Dad likes the 168SMK an has had good results, I did NOT have good luck with the 190SMK. But as was mentioned above, the VLD is an option hence the "hunting" variety.

110gr HPBT out of my 6.8 SPC at about 2750fps shot at about 75 yards.

Based on what I saw this bullet do to this coyote I wouldnt feel bad about using them on deer even elk out of my 6.8's. From all the reviews of this 110gr HPBT I have seen and from critters I have shot they tend to act more like a hunting bullet than a match bullet, but they do shoot like a match bullet in my rifles.

Thanks for the good info guys, If I shoot them I may try to kill a bunch of yotes before I trust them on any game.

Shot placement is the key to success.

I have used the the HPBT with success on deer. put behind the shoulder and it will kill any deer alive.

I don't like basing anything on coyotes. They just tend to fold up and die so easy. When it comes to being shot they seem to be fragile to me. Just what I have noticed.

I always wonder why people want to use match bullets to hunt. Is it that you don't have time to work up a load with a hunting bullet, or that you don't want to? DO you really think that a match bullet it that much more accurate? The difference in accuracy is what 1/4 moa at most between high quality bullets. The 308 I hunt with will shoot sub .75moa at 200 yards with 165SGKs, and about the same with 175smks, why would I not use the Game Kings?
We all know shot placement makes kills, but in a hunting environment you'll eventually not have the perfect setup, or miss that cross wind and the bullet will hit 6 inches from where you wanted it to. Give yourself every advantage, use a bullet designed to expand.
If you don't want to shoot an expanding bullet then shoot 405s from a 45-70, they don't expand much, but hey hit like Thor's Hammer.

Honestly, I just don't get it.
Store shelves are usually fully stocked with very effective hunting ammunition. The companies who manufacture it have invested far more resources than any of us can muster to make the cartridge adequately affordable, accurate, and effective for any hunter who's willing and able to take an ethical shot.
Still, we get this incessant natter about which non-hunting (literally disavowed for hunting by the manufacturer) projectile can be perverted into the chase.
Whacking Bambi ethically and effectively is not comparable to taking the World Palma Championship. Use the basic and easily available tool, do the job straighforward; and stop makng a Federal Project out of a simple and common process.
Very plainly, when you insist on making it into something other than simple, you're doing it wrong. A decent hunter takes the ethical shot, and only the ethical shot. If there's any doubt, it's not ethical.
