You know its hot, when this rifle has not yet been fired on that day and has been sitting in the shade. Without care, this could have been a barrel burning day.

But in my younger years, We fired M-16’s on full automatic and you could easily light a cigarette on the barrel. (I did).

In my one match that I shot this year, I got the barrel hot enough to burn my thumb when I was walking down the hill from the rock pile. Thermometer never missed a beat. Made for rifle barrels.
