In 2012 my son and I decided to give crossbows a whirl, bought a reverse draw Horton, that and its replacement broke, maybe a good indicator of why Horton is gone.
This year we picked up an Excalibur Matrix 355, great platform if you scrap the POS Chinese scope. But, as a lifelong bow hunter, and compared to our Mathews compounds, they're LOUD.
And in my opinion the quality of the product compared to the compounds I do and have owned is not of the same standard.
We hunt w both, depends on where, what stand, etc. For my son, I think the shine's worn off and he'll be back using his Mathews exclusively next year.
Variety is good.
