How do you identify Seal fakes

Re: How do you identify Seal fakes

I was out playing with a few SEALs this week. A few friends.
A new BUDs class started Hell Week Sunday night. Lots of explosions and noise.

Just a short drive over.

A glimpse of the PT training area.

Some people might recognize the bar where we had lunch.
Great Ruben Sandwich.

There were many SEALs eating and drinking here this day... oh, and one Walrus. (My abdominal girth does give me away.)

Great history here. It was a good time.
Been there, done that, ... DIDN'T get a T-shirt.

Dang do I miss that place. Is that Bullshirt in the picture with all the shirts?... and that pub/grill... holy crap I remember eating there a significant number of times. I need to get back and visit NAS North Island, maybe run up and down the beaches a few times... boots and utes of course.

Re: How do you identify Seal fakes

Wow, after reading this entire post now I can tell people I was a SEAL and nobody could ever tell if I wasn't.

Not that I would. Just pointing out that we might be giving away the super secrets to ousting liers.

Re: How do you identify Seal fakes

Years ago I had a boss that was ex Navy and he told us he was a seal. Well one trip rock climbing in New Paltz showed he wasnt. First pitch he almost shit his pants and we had to lower him down and we kept going. Funny shit.

I remember that all of the "water" schools, i.e. BUDs, Diver, EOD, RS had extra PT they had to do to prepare for the "test". But supposedly the guys that passed the BUDs entry test was guaranteed an opportunity to go to BUDs although they may have had to go to their "A" school first. </div></div>

Yep, should have been "A" school first. I think, (note I said "I think", I was trying to look into it some but I was having very little luck, before I spouted off about the way it was vs the was it is...

) they moved it from Orlando to Great Lakes in the early 90's when they stopped offering it in Orlando right before the closing. I have been out of touch for some time on the way it works now. It was more PT and prepared everyone for the test, there were SEALS, EOD, and Diver guys there that supervised the training and testing. Everything seemed a little more stict and geared differently than regular fleet guys. Plus, extra time was put in at night, after lights out doing push ups and pull ups on racks, whatever could be done to increase your chances of success. If you made the test you were into which ever it was you were slotted for, Diver school, EOD school or BUDS,(Diver test was easier than EOD test, EOD test was easier than BUDS test) but back then you went to A school before reporting for duty at Diver, EOD or BUDS, unless for some reason you could not get into your A school within a reasonable amount of time. I knew no one that happened to. If you were finished with your A school before your BUDS or whatever rotation came around, you did a little fleet time at some misc BS stuff they could dig up for you (Guard Duty on base....lol..ship time....whatever). </div></div>

In 97 it was straight to BUDs IIRC. Two guys in my division took the test and passed, said they were headed to school asap. Both were BMs or GMs so not sure if A school was like 2 weeks or if it didnt matter. That may have changed at this point though.

Re: How do you identify Seal fakes

I remember the recruiter at my High School in Florida promoting that deal with the fast track to the diving programs, that was back in 90-91. I think I still have the brochure. We used to work bail out for the DOD guys that came into New Orleans for training with TSS. They were a rowdy bunch, it was always funny to here the shit they would come up with when they were asked what they did; I remember one guy kept telling people he worked at Wal Mart in the women's clothing section.
