Kah-less
Yeah, my unsophisticated & igernent pronounciation of Kahles got corrected the first time I called EuroOptic to order one....never felt so much like a hick from the sticks while attempting to spend that kind of $$$ before.
Six!!!!I guess I'd have to say that yes, they were tactful in correcting me. I'd been pronouncing it 'kayles' since the early '60s when I started reading Dad's old Shooters Bibles catalogs....doubt there were very many other farmers & cowboys out here that knew the difference either....doesn't really matter I guess, I wound up buying six of the K624i AMRs over the years since 2014, and still like them very much, thank you.
If it were an American English word, it'd probably be spelled "caullus". The "a" sound is like "aww".do u sound the "a" ?
I will go to the grave with SAY-KOCorrect. No long vowels in German.
No long vowels in Finnish either. Sako is pronounced Sah-ko, Not Say-kou.
I also asked a friend who emigrated from Sweden the correct pronunciation of Lapua. He told me it's LAh-pua with the accent on the first "a", he kinds laughs when he hears Lah-pUa.......
The Austrians corrected Mike his first time meeting them, they told him it was like Call-Us![]()
My favorite is the 62 ways I've heard people say Leupold.
Kahles...a guy from Boston saying Car, followed by “less”. I got corrected at a local shop about that a few years ago.
I still call Leupold “Lee-Ah-pold” though, “loop-old” just sounds odd to me.
And I don’t care what’s right or wrong, calling a Nightforce ATACR an “attacker” just sounds stupid. I could see a-tac-r, but I’ll still say out each letter...A T A C R.
I usually say Nacht Macht AngreiferI typically say A-tac-er
I agree, “attacker” is kinda lame.

I like A TAC R or Attacker ...
it's how I would read it if it was a license plate
Six!!!!I don't feel so bad now having bought 2! You are my hero.
Laupua is not pronounced lah-poo-ah either.
It’s pronounced lopwah’ almost in one syllable. Or 1.5 syllables if you wish.
I usually let the customer say it first and repeat their version![]()
