Tried searching all over the internet. I have an ultra 7 and am extremely happy with it. I am seriously looking to get an ultra 5 to keep length and weight down on an ar10 and for hunting rifle. I understand it is optimum for .300 blackout they say but rated for .300 win mag. They also call it a moderator, not a suppressor. I have heard there isn't much difference between the ultra 7 and 9 but the 5 is a huge difference in noise. My local dealer has all the ultras and he let me shoot the 5 right after the 7 on a 7-08 bolt gun indoors. This wasn't much of a comparison since they were both loud as shit inside, and I have no way to shoot the ultra 5 outdoors where I would be using it.
I am not looking to lay down and pump 200 rounds without ear plugs with the ultra 5, I'm mostly looking for something short that I can shoot at a coyote or gopher out of the truck with, without ear plugs. Or just the occasional target shooting. Is this ultra 5 going to fit the bill, or will I be dreading pulling the trigger every time I go to shoot due to the noise? I'm not talking about osha's standards of what is hearing safe, I'm talking practical everyday rifle use noise. I have no problem whatsoever shooting my ultra 7 without ear plugs, how would the ultra 5 compare?
Any other recommendations on short lighter weight cans that still maintain accuracy and consistency? What about the surefire 7.62 mini?
Thanks for the help?
