I read alot on here about turret feel and the complete disdain for turrets that some describe as mushy yet I have never seen or heard of anyone adjusting a scope with their eyes closed. If you were blind and had to rely on the sound or the deep detents between clicks to know where you are at, i would bet you will still miss your target considering you cant see shit in the first place.

I own a couple Vortex AMG scopes and these must be the most tactical scope of them all because you can literally be downrange and hear me adjusting my scope. Its also marketed as a longrange hunting scope. My guess is that it is marketed that way because if the animal isnt a long ways away the damn thing would run off due to the tactical turrets scaring them off.

My thinking is if the turrets turn and the scope adjusts then they did the job and are fine. My question for all of you is........When are scope turrets considered too tactical?

EDIT: I have been informed the word I am looking for is tactile. You know what I mean anyhow.

what feels good to one is not the same for all . would think anything out side a price that for me is no way i'm going to pay is too much for me you may want it and would buy it . If you really have to have glow in the dark blinking lights on your tactical gun you might be over a lot of line then again if you are willing to pay for it then more power to you..
We have our first Saturday night drunken post and its early yet.

I don't blindly dial but I could If I needed to in the dark or something.

But it's kinda like driving a car. Sure you can see the road but imagine having no road feedback. Like a power steering pump on maximum with sloppy joe rods and a bad gearbox. Then you get into a sports car with sporty sports things going on where it's tight as a virgin and you can not only see the road but it gives you excellent feedback and feel.

Not sure on the mushy turrets sound wise but I do like the detents to line up. That’s what I would consider to be mushy, play in between them extra loud tactile clicks!!!!

Just to give a straight answer, I really like the MTC turrets. But I always look so it’s not like I dial blindly it’s just makes me feel good in case I ever need to count with my eyes closed. All the higher end scopes have excellent tactile clicks anymore it’s just that we are all a bunch of nit pickers. 10 years ago any of the current scopes would have been a game changer, now we have to really pick to find flaws

With this thread I am mostly having fun with people who usee this feature as criteria when choosing a scope. I have read where people liked everything about s scope except the turrets were “mushy” which made the scope a no-go. Secondly I am making light of manufacturers that are taking audible turret clicks to almost laughable levels. If I spin some of mine quickly a passerby would think i was popping firecrackers.

I almost forgot. Give me a scenario where you would need to dial your scope with your eyes closed.

I think dual reticles is too tactical if you ask me, never thought much about the turrets, but I suppose they could be too tactical as well...

It's a toughie and best left to the experts. Normally the dark lord would be able to help, but I think this calls for a specialist if you ask me.

Not with my eyes closed but possibly in the dark...

Why would it not be? You have crowded price points. All with the same features. Yes, people get nitpicky trying to decide where to spend 500, 1k, 2k, or 3k+ on two nearly identical items. Mushy vs Tactile is in the eye of the beer holder. Feel is an important sense.

I mostly field shoot. Normally I don’t look at turrets to dial elevation. I go to the ZS and keep my eyes on the target. I normally hold windsge. I utilize decent scopes NF and S&B.
Either works fine.

Pretty easy fix for your issue, just use your reticle!
Only if you can see it. Now most of you will not believe the following but I'll let you in on a secret. I shoot alot of subs at night at 1/3 steel e-targets. With some practice an the scope up set to that range I can hit them to 250yds w/o seeing the ret at all BUT, the correct up has to be on the scope. (My subs take 32 moa to get there over the base H/S zero) How do you say? Because your eye can easily tell ctr of the scope at 4-5x or better w/o seeing the ret. This is where being able to feel the clicks, is night work gold. The Mk 4, M-3's, (3.5x10x40's) I use are perfect for this to me. The 22x USO will work for me but not near as good as the Leupolds to date. Yes the Leupold clicks seem soft to many. To me they are perfect as you can not hear them past 5 feet, as we have tested them. Time using your gear in all environments may yield rewards down the road, but only if you think out of the box.
