I have the hardback canvass. If I had to do it again I'd probably get the one with leather sleeves. if you have to order a size and wait. think about ordering 2 different sizes and send one back if they take returns. some people like to wear a sweat shirt underneath. I don't think its needed and ordered a size that was really to big. wish I would have got one smaller tried them both and then returned the one that didn't fit right. hopefully there are some people your size at a local match that you could try on for fit.

Re: hp shooting jackets

bigger question would be why do you want a Shooting coat for Tactical.

Creedmoor makes a version called their SWAT coat (call Gina she will help you) their are ruomors that there is another once in the works from a different manufacturer that will integrate a sling support.

Look up 9h he is a good coat shooter.

Just sayin.....

Re: hp shooting jackets

I used/was issued their SWAT version at my last department and deployed with it all the time. Great piece of gear - as long as you live in a climate it is comfortable in. Now that I'm in a place with lots of weather variations/extreme cold, it's not practical.

Who said anything about tactical? Maybe he wants to shoot HP. Anyways, Creedmoor is pretty much the standard all the others are judged by. If you ARE planning on shooting HP matches, it is definitely worth your time and money to invest in a good one the first time. Their Hardback coats in either cordura or leather are top-notch. The hardback feature helps a ton , particularly in the off-hand position. The "All-position" upgrade is money well spent, particularly of you will shoot across the course - sitting position is so much easier to get into with the side zippers to open up. Ventilation option is nice also. Others make decent coats also, but you won't be disappointed with a Creedmoor. The folks there are serious HP shooters and have spent a ton of time and money, as well as countless rounds downrange to figure out what works and what doesn't for this sport.

Also, when you call them on the phone, they talk to you like they are really happy to have you as a customer, and they always make sure you get what you want. Can't say enough good things about their business.

Good luck,
Erik

Re: hp shooting jackets

I'd LOVE to know where I could get a OD Green USMC shooting jacket. I went to backcamp years back and all the PMI's had them and wanted one ever since and can never find one!

Re: hp shooting jackets

I had mine made specifically to my measurements b a fella in canada, you can get whatever options you want and his build time was pretty much what he said it would be. If you are interested let me know and I will post his info. I think I paid 320.00 USD but I got it pretty optioned out and it fits me perfectly. I had it for three days when I went to the first match I used it in, and promptly shot my highest score ever! Prior to that I was shooting high master class scores using a sweatshirt but, felt I was giving points away. Let me know if you guys have interest and I will post his info.

"Sniper's Hide: For the serious Tactical Marksman"

It is an assumption that kinda comes with the territory.

That being said, Creedmoor will take great care of you. Gina is a wonderful person to work with there.

Kind of a silly assumption, don't you think? Do you go through all of the threads on the board and ask; "Why would you want ________ for tactical?"

"Why would you want to post pictures of your hot girlfriend for tactical?"

There are a pretty wide range of topics covered here, quite a few do not relate to tactical stuff.....

Flawed assumption, perhaps.

Silly assumption, I would say no.

If I were interested in High Power shooting I would likely stretch my Google Fu and see what I come up with. I am very aware that there are several skilled and accomplished High Power shooters who post here. That being said I would not go to a Ford dealer to ask about a Dodge, that would seem to be a “silly assumption”.

As it relates to a girlfriend or the like, that would be under the category of escapism or “random thoughts”.
