I'm looking at the new Aris .223 cans.

http://www.htgsilencers.com/Products/Suppressors/Rifle_Suppressors/?ProductID=364

The older one tested well on Silencer Research but I can't find anything on the current production and don't know if design or internals have changed. I'm looking for a direct thread mount SS can, HTG says they're in stock and can ship immediately, and the price looks good on these. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the new ones? Quiet? Good Tone? POI shift consistent? Customer service OK?

Thanks

Re: HTG anyone shot one of their new 223 cans?

All of the newer HTG products are takedown models for easy cleaning. We have improved the designs to accomodate a removable end cap and the performance is the same or better than original models.

The Aris-4 was already rated tops from independant testing at www.silencerresearch.com With the takedown model, the life and quality of the suppressor is greatly improved.

Re: HTG anyone shot one of their new 223 cans?

Yesterday, 4-27-11 I did a head to head comparison test of one of the last Aris-4's, and one of the first new takedown Aris-4's. The sole intent of the test was to compare the two cans, not to measure how quiet either one is. Field and weather conditions were sub-standard, so I only made sure the B&K 2209 sound meter was a consistent distance from the muzzle of the rifle. I did not set up my normal testing rig, so actual readings are not comparable to other suppressors. They are only comparable to each other. So don't go comparing these numbers to other brands. I will perform a more rigorous test when the weather warms up and dries out.

I shot ten shots of .223 from with a Savage LRPV with each suppressor. I had one shot with the old design that was a clear oddball. Excluding that one shot, the two cans were EXACTLY the same. Same average, same standard deviation. With that shot in the string, the new design was .2 db quieter, 133.2 vrs 133, and SD was .7 vrs .4 for the new can. That .2db is statistically insignificant, and way to small for almost anyone to hear.

The new design felt heavier. I didn't weigh either when I had them, but could get them weighed if that makes a difference to anyone. It would be early next week.I'd guess a few ounces more at most.

Thanks cs61.

That's exactly the info I was looking for. Silencer Research had a full review of the Aris-4 and I wondered if the new production was as good. Looks like a good value and a pretty quiet can.

Guess I need to talk to my dealer and have him call HTG. I'll post a review of my new Aris in a few months.

THANKS !
