Hunting Tripod but stability of RRS Series 3 Options?

I used by RRS series 33 with anvil head hunting for both glassing and to shoot from (in kneeling position) and cannot match the stability of it in use. The only issue is that it is long and just a tad heavy. I am curious what else is out there with this criteria:
- carbon
- smaller leg diameter than Series 3
- shorter than series 3 33 series
- lighter
- decent stability

I do not want the vortex aluminum offering or anything similar as they are not stabile at all. Two Vets, RRS, Fiesol, any other options out there, and ability to mount Arca plates and rifles to if needed.

Following. I just bought a pig saddle and Night Goggles Tripod w/ballhead. Not as stable as I hoped but seems to me the pig saddle is the weak link here.

I used the new RRS Ascend 14 tripod last week on a Montana mountain hunt. I really like that thing. Should be announced shortly. I think I am going the route of using the 22i for strictly comp, 34 for double duty and ascend for all the hunting stuff. I’m also lucky enough to have that luxury most aren’t. So a good all rounder would be the 24L, 34, 34L. Just depends on the weight you need and the height you need. The 4 section ones all pick nicer, they are the tripods that have a 4 as the second number.

I use the 34 with anvil and it fits on my badlands super day just fine. I hunt with it all the time and could not imagine a better set up.

Why not just a smaller series RRS? The specs are all there on their website. Anything not RRS will either be heavier or not as stable.

Since you mentioned Feisol, I just want to drop in that I would NOT recommend the 3342 for standing shots taken off of it if you want series 3 stability with a heavy rifle. Kneeling/seating, it's pretty solid, but standing there's a decent bit of shake with a heavy gun.

Thanks all, I ended up getting a Two Vets No Name Jr tripod. The price is hard to beat and I plan to use it mostly seated and not as worried trying to use it standing. I will buy an RRS Anvil head for it and have a smaller and lighter setup than what I have now.

I really wanted to buy a series 1 RRS but for $600+ more I just couldn't justify it right now, if this Two Vets does not pan out I will look to go full RRS in the future.

It seemed to me the nominal increase in weight to have wider diameter legs was well earned, to increase stiffness to another level. To reduce leg diameter for less weight is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. If I need to save weight, I’ll do it somewhere else, or even better, just train a bit more to carry the load.

Yeah I get that but it’s different when thinking about hiking miles in to hunt in the mountains. Saving 1.5lbs and get a package that is smaller and will meet your needs just as well then it seems better. I love the 33 and it’s not going anywhere and for flat land hunting or drivable base camp spotting I will take it with me. This is more for going to the top of a mountain, having stable glassing and maybe 1 or 2 shots if needed, not running on stages back to back or needing to be standing looking at targets at each stage.
if I can drop a couple pounds on a few pieces of my kit it will be huge while moving.

Leofoto LN 364 is compatible with the RRS bowl, that’s what I use. It’s not the lightest tripod but it’s stable and works well for me. Worth a look anyways.

Daniel at Primal Finish did the Cerakote work. I‘m pretty sure it has to be taken apart. I just know I was extremely impressed with the work and performs just as well as the day I bought it.
