Well, I purchased the 700XCR tactical finally, and I found an optic for a great price, (under half price) but I still have a few pieces to put purchase. I have been looking at all of the threads about brakes and such, but I still can't decipher what I need. The XCR is chambered in .300 winnie, and I believe the barrel is .820, and it is the factory barrel with the trinyte coating. I need a brake on it for extended shooting sessions, and wanted to go with the Badger FTE, because more than one or two people recommended them. However, I am not EXACTLY sure which one to purchase. The gun is a M700 XCR Tactical Long Range with the factory barrel. What do I need? What do I need to have done to the gun and can an average gunsmith do it? I won't be there in person when this is done, as I am still in Afghanistan. I am going to have my brother take the gun to the smith.
Additionally, if anyone wants to chime in on a recommendation for rings and a good base, or the aluminum bedding block in a laminate thumbhole from Stocky's, I wouldn't be mad.
Thanks again, Captain Gibson.
