Suppressors If you were to buy a can today

All things equal, I would do it as an individual. Individual filings seemed to be turned around quicker (a relative term), from what I’ve seen in the last two years or so.

I did do a trust for one can bought in Jan 2018 and didn’t see the stamp until feb of this year. Bought another one using an individual filing March of this year and got the stamp a couple weeks back.

I would also Check with SS to confirm they got the paperwork issues straightened out and see if a SS trust would be any quicker than an individual.

Trust...unless you like giving Uncle Sam double taxes but that's just me. F that noise... Longer wait up front but I can add and take people off my trust in 2 seconds and enjoy having that flexibility. Key to a trust is to only set it up initially with just you and have it be a living trust with a amendments to add or remove beneficiaries/trustees.

Caveat to this is you stack gold florins like Ricky ross and don't give a shit about the taxes....to which I say put in an application with @TheGerman to be admitted to the go be poor somewhere else committee.

Or unless your 100% sure you will never be letting any one have possession of your cans ever... Then they will be someone else's problem when you die or the ATF gets to inherit them if you fail to designate someone.

I bought my last 3 cans as an individual. I have a trust, but Arsenal Attorneys wants twice what I paid for it to update it for post-41F purchases. Not worth the hassle or cash to me, my oldest kid is 17 years away from being old enough to possess the can on my trust, my wife has no interest, and my friends can buy their own cans. My will handles the dispursment of my junk when I die, the cans don't really have much monetary value at all, so they will go to my heirs on a Form 5, don't care what they do with them after that.

For something like a machinegun that has substantial monetary value, I'd definitely go trust, but for my gun muffling tubes..... meh. The only trust I'd be interested in these days is the SS single shot trust, maybe I'll try one of those for my next can, or maybe I'll just do another Individual, it's really not going to make much of a difference either way.

well my state is funny sort of they like the sound gun fire so much they made It illegal to own a suppressor so I must share the loud bangs of every shot , so while I could sympothise with people who say they are loud . I am torn I have enjoyed shooting a couple of guns with them and without both are fun .

I believe that when you die, they freely transfer once to heirs. Respectfully, I don't loan out tools, let alone cans.

Trust because of the flexibility and because I have two sons that will now easily inherit my suppressors.
This
I went with a lawyer that specializes in NFA trusts and trust law in my state to write mine instead of the multi-state generic ones. They aren’t that hard to find given a little research and the cost wasn’t bad, 150-200ish.
