Isnt the whole point of those cars to be self-driving? I am not excusing her just curious how she can be charge with DUI if she aint driving
Could you do the world a solid and accidently on purpose put one in your acquaintance next time you're out? TIA.But, but, shouldn't Ford be held accountable?
Guy I shoot with drives a Tesla. He says he has taken himself out of the equation and uses the self-drive feature exclusively while he surfs the web. I can't bring myselfvto trust other drivers. I sure as hell do not trust technology.
"It's not the car, it's the driver" applies just as much as "It's not the gun, it's the shooter".
True, but if your car suffers a failure due to manufacturer negligence, do you want to go to jail?
do you know what a "Tesla recall" really is?
it's a software update. I see them like annually in the mail, but I get a software update every 1-2 months. every single time I've gotten one in the mail it was for an old software version no longer in use fwiw.
it's much better now, and could get me to work even if I were perhaps drunk, probably 99 out of 100 times. I've never been drunk in a tesla but I'd think that would be the car to try it in.
tough shit lol
but trying that in a ford, may as well have been a bicycle.
literally everything you listed is built into fsd. you can not buy tesla's fsd without those safety features. I'm not sure about the sensors in ford's blue cruise. I was so unimpressed I didn't bother to explore at the time. They can EASILY fix the whole self driving situation....but they won't and I can't understand why.
FIX
There are quite a few ways to have a camera on the drivers face, if the driver takes their eyes off the road, self drive to side of road and self park, turn off engine.
DONE
FIX
There are sensors that can tell if your hands are on the steering wheel, if driver takes BOTH hands off steering wheel, self drive to side of road, self park, turn off engine.
DONE
See how easy this shit is ?
Why don't they implement a few fixes along these lines ?
More to the point....who is paying them not to ?
for you guys who think all cars are the same, no.
tesla's FSD is excellent and would have handled that situation fine from the looks of it. but even FSD is lawyer proof in that you have to be awake and paying attention to use it because just in case.
Ford's blue cruise is in no way comparable to Tesla's FSD. it's like a 5th grader who got stuck in a college algebra class.
tried both, bought FSD outright and have used it for 3 years and 80k miles. you can zone out and listen to music and maybe read a text if it's important.

Pretty sure the point was to replace every truck and bus driver with self driving trucks and busses. A few crashes later not so much. Now it's a selling point for entitled douche bags that are too important to perform the menial task of driving when they can be watching porn instead. The problem with this tech is that assuming everything works properly, what is the point? If the law requires you to supervise the driving, why are you not driving then?

March of this year. last few lines of this article may interest you.I haven't tried the 24 ford's but their shit sucked ass 2 years ago when I was buying.
tesla is a decade more advanced in that respect. mine can drive better than many licensed drivers I see out, you do still have to pay attention though.
you guys really should try the tesla version before you lump it in with everyone else.
I wonder how old that news video is because that car in the crash is like 10 years old.
I do not know how good teslas were 10 years ago, I never tried one. probably sucked just like ford's do now.
just finished reading that.March of this year. last few lines of this article may interest you.

Philly woman accused of using hands-free driving in crash that killed 2 people, charged with DUI homicide
The fatal crash marked at least the second incident this year involving a Ford Mustang Mach-E using the BlueCruise hands-free driving system.www.nbcnews.com
if an electric car malfunctions why could you not pull over when you realize it isn't acting right? I don't understand your point man and I actually use this tech every day.
you really should watch a yt video about how it works in practice, or just test drive one.

again that's not how any of this works.
test drive one, or don't, nobody cares. but millions of Americans are using them and they work pretty well.
I don't know what you're talking about. I use this technology every day. what could malfunction?

right, but why would that be any different than a normal vehicle?Just the mechanical and electrical components.
right, but why would that be any different than a normal vehicle?
any vehicle can malfunction and cause a crash is what I'm trying to point out.
there's no difference.
LolPsst, heads up.
It was not a Tesla.
It was a Ford Mach-E.
No way Ford has 1/10th of the experience with self driving that Tesla has (and I'm not saying Tesla's is good.....I'm merely saying Fords is worse....by far).
Yeah but in the real world that doesn’t work. People need stimulation. If they are just watching the car drive itself they will watch movies internet whateverproof in that you have to be awake and paying attention to use it because just in case.
I hate the lane assist etc new cars come with.
