A hole in the ground
I'm getting ready to have a gun forum delete me from their forum. You can't even say the word damn there without being banned for using foul language. Years ago I had a savage forum warn me because I called Jane Fonda a turd (I had very choice words for those folks). What is with these people who are pro 2A and yet they want to muzzle your 1A rights? They use the words "family forum" to condone their actions. Yet these same people let their kid watch TV and watch it themselves and there's a lot of cussing on TV these days. Must be good Christians or sumin I guess.

Re: I'm getting ready

Well, Hate to tell ya BUT... like any forum, this one included! You follow the rules or your out! It has nothing to do with your first amendment rights, it's the forums right to say what can be posted on their site. They pay for the bandwidth they make the rules. On here Low Lights word is LAW. He pays for us to play so you play by his rules. Simple, follow the rules. EOR! lol

Re: I'm getting ready

While it might seem a bit unfair to some, sites like this have many members that are active duty military or are in law enforcement / government jobs and as such, they cannot be filled with political statements / anti-government rants or profane language as that would mean those people could no longer easily access the site and we would loose a lot of valuable input.

Those who wish to portray those of us who like their 2nd Amendment rights are happy to pounce on any chance to portray us as anti-government nuts and crude people, why give them any satisfaction?

Most likely you are preaching to the choir and a few subtle hints of what you mean are more than enough to have everyone understand what you are saying.

Despite the large amount of profanity used in modern society, it is still not pleasant to read and most of the time you can be much more descriptive as to why someone is undesireable without using any profanity.

+1
I have significantly different language and courtesy at work with "the guys" than when I come home and speak with my family and Friends. It is just a rougher crowd at work.
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Now I know how our government became in control of us instead of us controlling our government. Thanks guys...</div></div>
I don't think this is a good analogy of forum etiquette or lack of.

Re: I'm getting ready

The religious and political debate rules are, IMO a good idea. The topics ALWAYS turn into a shouting match and waste bandwidth.

Some forums take it to a whole different level with very high degrees of political correctness. Bet I can name the forum you mentioned in two or less tries.

I think it would be fairly hilarious if you said, "The High Road".

You wrote too much into that. All I would like to do is say damn without some assclown banning me. I don't need to belong to any goody two shoes forums. That part I said about the gov was for the first two posters who were giving me the "they make the rules we must obey" routine (how boring).

I'm still waiting for those guesses, THR would be wrong.I haven't been there in years.

Re: I'm getting ready

I think one of the rules is "No Forum Wars," but suffice to say the above mentioned forum and a few others are extremely PC.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">All I would like to do is say damn without some assclown banning me. </div></div>

I was temporarily banned from a handgun forum for saying Whiskey Tango Hotel and Charlie Foxtrot (literally those words) because the moderator "knew" what they meant. I just never went back.

I use very little profanity, but I don't cringe and blush when I hear it. Unless within the earshot of ladies (as opposed to females)or children, I don't really notice. I sometimes wonder how some folks make it though life.

You equate someone telling you the obvious to being the downfall of our government? Your 1st Amendment Rights apply to you in your own residence and public, not in someone else's house. That's like you going over to somebodies house and swearing in front of their kids then bitching about be told to stfu or leave. They've got rights too and part of the real problem with our government is the selfish belief of others that their rights somehow supersede everyone elses. Maybe you should go to your bathroom and look at this thing called a mirror...

Where did you get that from, it wasn't from anything I said. I didn't say anything about a government downfall. I hate looking in that mirror, I always look so RAMBO! lmao

After visiting many other gun forums over the years I'm convinced there are sheep and zombies who have infiltrated many gun.com's.

Post something political here and see how fast your minutes are numbered? I am far from the sheeple you think I am. But the fact remains "Their Forum, Their Rules". Don't like it? Pay for your own bandwidth.

Re: I'm getting ready

Better question is why are you posting on a site Mod'ed by tea totters? Being an old 3rd an 7th fleet sailor your verbiage would not offend me. Here's an example... I'm late for work, I run down the interstate at 88mph and a cop pulls me over an gives me a ticket for 88 in a 70. Do I whine how unfair life is and the state troopers a dick because "Obviously" I'm late for work. No, I man up an pay the ticket because that's what MEN do. Don't whine about it, Man up or change your moniker. EOR!

They weren't tea totters at first. But as any first time gun forum their either going to get better or worse. Of course this is a place where most of the talk is about gun laws. Now that it's been around a while it's the same old questions and the same old answers time after time after time so I'm not really going to miss anything.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Don't whine about it, Man up or change your moniker.</div></div>

It ain't about whining, it's about principal. Can you not understand that? There are probably millions of gun forums out there and I get to pick which one's I think are useful and which one's are useless. What do you do with gun forums you don't like, let em run your life anyway?

I think that why I've been here so long (longer than any other gun forum), no politics, no religion. But the mods understand the difference between making a political statement or just mentioning the government as a whole without making a political statement which some people here may not, apparently.

Did not mean to insinuate you were sheep, it was a in general statement not directed at anyone here.

Re: I'm getting ready

You guys must be purty bored to take this thread so seriously. Getting rid of an unwanted pest (or forum) can be done any number of ways. I'll probably put a rag on their chimney and smoke em out, then let the claymores I set up do em in while I kick back on my lawn chair suck down some suds and watch the show. I know this is going to upset some of you but that's life on the internet.

Perhaps <span style="font-weight: bold">Mr. Toughguys doesn't appreciate that there are ladies on this forum;</span> and while there is an occasional time and place for genuine expletives, it's just not necessary to throw them around in daily discourse "because you're a man and you can". </div></div>

I bet those ladies you speak of are more than willing to protect themselves and their family's from harm then you are. You really think their going to become embarrassed or cower because some jerkoff wanting to harm them cusses at them? You might, but I bet they don't. Remember, hell has no fury like a women.

Re: I'm getting ready

If they are that sensitive it's probably not a board I would want to be a member of. But, it is THEIR forum. Yes you have freedom of speech, you can say whatever you want. But look at it like this. Let's say you were in my house. You can say whatever you want, but if I don't like what your saying I'll ask you to get out and go say it somewhere else. Not preventing you from saying it. Just preventing you from saying it on my private property. To me an internet forum could be viewed as private property and it's use is at the sole discretion of the owner of said forum. If I pay for the land it's mine, and If I pay for the bandwidth that's mine too.

Re: I'm getting ready

What I told them today is to delete me (all posts) then if they want they can ban me. I really don't have much use for that forum. Time to move on. I think most that use to be over there have moved on as well.
