Im going shootin', in my basement,.177 RWS model 36 with Crosman Premiers. Damn, its cold down there. haha
Its comments like this that had my wife praying all our kids would be girls. Too bad for her! If I have anything to say about it, my son and duaghters will grow up loving and appreciating shooting sports as much as I do.
67 is warmer than my house right now, 67 id be out riding, thats almost too warm for the bike.
last year at this time it was in the 70s, had my SV out, riding around, enjoying the warm weather, then April came, grrrrrrr

I would much rather shoot in that than shoot in 100* sandy, dusty environment like what I have here most of the time..
Used to shoot in 100 degree weather(Vegas), at least you can feel your fingers in those temps, seemed like it was always breezy though, helped if you got out before the sun came up too high.
I would have loved to take today's shot in that, instead of laying on the wet ground...

JGorski, you make me happy knowing I'm not the only tool out shooting in th snow, cussing about rootig around beneath the snow for brass! Bahahahahaba! I'd go shoot'n with ya. It's all melted here and now ya nothing but a muddy swine pit now. I'd take the snow any day.
Shooting in worst conditions is still better Working in the best conditions

yes, yes it does. I'm in the midwest and i can relate. put up multiple targets and use the spotter is standard procedure here in that kind of weather. thankfully, our white stuff is finally all melted off.

Hopefully by May the 300yd pit wont have any mud or very little in it, course i could put my pussy boots on and go wading in the muk. Luckily the pathways down to the pits is all sand. I catch my brass when I eject so it hardly ever touches the ground.
You guys don't have portable shooting platforms? This one comes standard with target-carrying capabilities.
I grew up in Ohio and the lake effect snows coming off of the great lakes. Wouldnt go back to it at gunpoint either. I'm a Happliy converted southerner because the snow melts and is gone in 2-3 days, Max.

Yep, we have shot in some crappy conditions. One day we had to cross a frozen over flooded stream to hang our targets. Well we broke through and had to slog threw knee deep ice water for about 25 yards out and back then started shooting for a few hours. I took my boots off when we reached our first firing position and dumped the water out and wrang my socks out. We were lucky it was warm (low to mid 20s) so i shot with my boots off until we had to move. We have had to carry our targets out in snow up to our waist, that was a long trip. Its kinda fun in a sadistic sorta way...
The folks here in north central Wisconsin must be a little thicker skinned, we have been shooting tournaments/ranges the last 5 weeks already

Hmmm. I think I'll stay in sunny Arizona. High today was 83 me thinks and gorgeous. Lots of desert to shoot in and no annoying gun laws. Too bad our football team sucks.
I just pull out my winter loads and have a blast. If too cold, like double digit negative temps, we have a shooting house with wood burning stove.

I went to school in Michigan's UP (Michigan Tech) in the mid-90s, and routinely experienced 200+ inches of yearly snowfall. We got about 325 inches in '95-'96 (including 105 inches in the month of January). As long as the snow wasn't more than waist-deep, we'd find a way to get out shooting - even if it meant a half-mile hike from the front gate to the firing line, since the driveway at the range usually wasn't plowed during the winter months. At some point, you either put on your big-boy underwear and find a way to deal with the conditions, or you shut up and stop whining about how difficult it is to enjoy your hobby.
Meanwhile, some folks have to work in such conditions every day, and some of us with cushy desk jobs do silly stuff like deciding that we want to build 2000 sq. ft. garages in the middle of winter.

As one.shot said, we have been shooting all winter. Shit one time I was out this winter @ 14f and 20mph winds, the other weekend I shot was a balmy 10 degrees, sun was nice though.

+1 on that, don't care for mud. As long as you can keep your feet warm, shooting in snow is great...usually have the whole range to yourself. Rain on the other hand...well, I think we all know what happens there (LOL):
Closes a day before deer season, Nov 15th I think it was last year. 30 bucks/year. I dont own any land so I cant just go out in some farmers field and start shooting, besides, the 1st 600yd shoot isnt til June 9th so I have plenty of time, I guess.

And I joined here 7 months before you did, and you have 26X (that's Twenty Six TIMES) more posts than I do. I'd say you were pretty good at it!
Once the weather turns, 1-3 more inches of snow tonight, btw, Ill be out shooting if Im not working OT. Bad thing about our range, its only open 3 days a week, Wed, sat, sunday.
Here's an idea that I've used on my own range (the inlaws ranch) when I hump out targets in the snow I use snowshoes the added benefit to this is you can tamp down the area next to your position really well and then the brass only drops a fraction of an inch not inches into the snow. Just my $.02
