I have two one pound containers left of IMR 4895 and IMR 4320. I want to use these up before I order more Varget. I have ordered more 55 gr VMAX and 75 gr M HPBT. Which powder will be better for which round and how much of each?

Thanks!

Re: IMR 4895 and 4320

55 gr VMAX and 75 gr M HPBT suggests a .223 IF so :
Don't know much about IMR4320,..don't think I have ever used it...However

I tried to load IMR 4895 in a .223 once,......

spent more time cleaning up as it appeared to like to bridge across the case mouth and hang up the measure .......until you dropped the case then the powder went everywhere..

Nowadays I prefer Spherical powders for the .223 save the IMR 4895 for the '06

Re: IMR 4895 and 4320

The 4895 will work for both bullet weights.
Hornandy #7 Manual .223 Remington
55 grain bullet IMR 4895 25.1C grs MAX load 3,100 fps

Hodgdon Website .223 Remington
75 GR. JLK VLD IMR 4320 .224" 2.250" 22.5 grs 2554, 24.2C grs 2766

Both loads will be compressed

I have used IMR 4895 quite a bit in the .222 RM it works fine other than you are working with compressed loads.
