I have done a Sniper's Hide search and did not find what I am looking for. I would like to know the opinion of the IMR 8208 powder and is it clean burning and does it leave a heavy residue in a 223 rifle like some powders?

Thanks for the info.

Re: IMR 8208 Powder

I shoot quite a bit of this powder, and it is my favorite by far. Very temperature insensitive, I get excellent velocity, and it meters really well. I love it for .223 with heavies and .308 with 155's.

I use it in 223 with 69SMK's, my AI with 75 AMax's, and my Grendel with 123 AMax's. I have really good luck with it. Cant say I have ever noticed it turning my bolt green?

My son and I compete with this powder using 77 and 80 gr bullets in our service rifles. It burns cleaner than Varget and I haven't really noted any difference of consequence across the lots I have used. Temperature stability is good too.

Re: IMR 8208 Powder

On my AR, the bolt gets a green-blue residue on it on the backside, not the face. I assume that if using a bolt action rifle, this would be a non-issue.

My favorite powder for my .22BR in an 8 twist. Very stable in the heat.

It also has shorter kernals than most extruded powders, therefore it meeters alot better! Its the only stick powder that I can run in my 17 without having to tap it in!
