Figured I would share this with you all. I recently ordered a custom tactical knife from a local Georgia knife maker, and am extremely impressed. I would put this head to head with my Zero Tolerance, or Microtech in a second. He builds some really nice knives that are built to last for a fraction of the high end price!!!!

His name is Scott Davidson and he owns Solid Rock Knives out of Georgia. If your in the market for a new Tactical knife give him a call.

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

Looks like it would be more of a skinning knife rather than a tactical knife. Unless I have other ideas of what a tactical knife should look like. My idea of a tactical knife is for killing only , blood grove, point/tip,ect...

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

I had the same idea a VERY, VERY long time ago.

IMHO you have a better chance of using a knife for more everyday tasks that turning a terrorist into a kabob.

All the dings and scratches on my Emerson agree.

Great knife BTW. I'm sure it will hold you up well.

What's a "blood groove" for?

If you're talking about a fuller, that's a byproduct of manufacturing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller_%28weapon%29

It most certainly doesn't make a knife more "tactical", or effective at killing people with.

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

I had this one made from 440, I like the 440 keeps a nice edge. The overall dimensions are 8 1/2. 4 inch blade, and 4 1/2 hilt. Thanks this has really been a good "TACTICAL" knife. My handle is Mircarta, but is also built in G10.

And are you guys shitting me??? Out of my 4 deployments I have seen a lot of "tactical" soldiers wearing "tactical" knives, and have yet to see the first one used to spear a live terrorist. It is as tactical as any other knife my my standards, and wanted this style blade because it is used for everyday use. But by all standards was built as a offensive weapon, not defensive. The blade is anti-reflective, and the handle is either G10, or Micrarta, being chemical resistant. The sheath is Kydex and is better than any high end sheath that I have ever paid for.

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

It is a fine looking knife, and should accomplish just about any slicing & dicing you might need to do.

I would like to point out that the what makes a knife "tactical" is the when & where of its use, not the machining fuller. The only thing that really matters is to point the sharp end in the right direction.

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

its a very nice knife. I just checked his website and didnt see anything like what you have.. did you ask him to make it that way or just pick it out of something he had for sale?

Re: In need of a new Tac knife?

Spot on. Tactical is one of the most misused terms out there when it comes to knives. Almost any knife can be used in a "tactical" application if one knows what they're doing. The only real differentiation between tactical and non-tactical is the materials used for the build.
