To answer your question- I didn't. Do I agree with what this individual posts... I don't. But I still find the "dogpile" methodology to be distasteful. And I'll even tell you why.

As long as that remains the de facto course of action to address differing opinions here, those that participate in such behavior do nothing more than perpetuate an echo chamber of opinions. I don't understand why this is such an unpopular opinion with some of you- live in an echo chamber and you'll never be challenged, if you believe your opinions to be right then you should have the fortitude to defend said opinions against contrary posts here.

Insulting one's political stances, sexuality, masculinity, what have you- whether you recognize it or not, it only diminishes your own opinion (even if it's well grounded) . Truly what have you gained in running differing opinions away from the Pit? The ability to slap each others ass and pat their backs for doing a good job in running off the contrarian so all you hear is your own opinion repeated several times over?

Grow the fuck up- I don't even agree with this particular person (at all) but there's a number of you that just can't help yourselves than act like a High School Bully and you're certainly old enough to know better.

I hate to be the one to tell you but here it is- High School is over and it's never coming back, college is over, and you're no longer in a frat house, maybe you wore a uniform at some time like me- those adventures were then and are not now. You may have accomplished amazing things in HS, College, Military and I won't take that away from you- but your life didn't stop in either of those milestones and I damn well hope you haven't let your life get stuck then either. We've all seen those "type of people" whose glory years was decades ago and never were able to move past that. Don't let that be you, frankly you're better than that. Life didn't stop when you accomplished 'X', it goes on day after day with each day presenting another opportunity to achieve something more amazing than your younger self ever envisioned.

But dammit you have to be open to it- you have to realize your life hasn't stopped and if you're open to it- it'll just keep getting better if you embrace it.

TL/DR (I learned that here)- life isn't what you were or what you did. Life is TODAY. Go out and makes something of it.

You are wasting your time, if you haven't realized that yet. As evidenced in another reply to your post. Kids will be kids. The only way to deal with someone's unruly petulant child is to ignore them and/or their behavior. Validating it with a response, even an admonishment, is perceived as a reward. It is how little minds work.

I stink I can explain the echo chamber thingy a little bit. And yes, it is as you describe and yes, it is to ward off differing opnions, etc.

Because it is a survival mechanism. Primates group together and seek cohesion. Does it mean they are right or even bound for success. Just a title little troup of monkeys.

There now, I think I will have offended both religions, christianity and "atheism."

That deserves a beer.

Then, here's my argument, here I am almost 100% in agreement with what you post and disagree with the other fella- but be better, your stance is sound- you don't need to result into schoolyard insults- this is an easy discussion that you can win just by discussing facts & logic. I shouldn't be the one who otherwise defends this fella but you all don't need to participate in a dogpile, just point out why their posts don't amount to a hill of beans is all.

You've got the high ground- acknowledge that and use it to your advantage.

Look at my posting history. How often do I dog pile? Find instances of me cussing at other people. How many times do I help others with information that is no longer available because it got deleted so they understand what happened?

The closest that you will find of me dog piling is trying to act as an archivist and helping others realize what they are getting in to. I am trying to help them decide to back out if they feel like they need to. You have been in threads here long enough to see me reference the Bear Pit Expectations thread more than once. You have scrolled past it many times. You have decided to continue. Your further involvement here is completely on you and sure seems like you like the attention you are getting.

having been an atheist for > 60 years,i don't believe in the devil either. however,the Christians on here have convinced me that satin worship,satin worshipers and satanic activities are real. i think the satin idea is incorrect. they are evil and do need to be dealt with to the fullest extent possible. aggressive punishment for their evil behavior is certainly in order and long overdue. any metaphysical considerations are a non issue. punishing thought and belief is a bad idea as we can see thru all the abuse conservatives have and are taking in the west. England being the prime example of that.

Well bro, you got one thing right. But it makes more sense if one follow's their own advice and perhaps invokes a bit of self-reflection. On one hand "I come in peace" on the other passive insults. It's endemic in our society, "I know what's best and I have the answers" and it doesn't matter if one practices what they preach, so long as they KNOW they are on the "right side". Hence some type of moral authority giving one a sense of pseudo-self-rightousness. I wasn't trying to clown you. You did that on your own. And TBH, I really DGAF either way. But if you want to lecture and think you "know" then expect someone to pull your string. You aren't talking to children here...although yes, there is certainly some childish behavior for lols. When I paint my face and wear a red nose and big shoes, I get called sexy.

But I don't know if that is because those are the only items I am wearing or if it is because it is an improvement over not having that stuff.
