I am looking for first hand opinions of the IOR 12-52 Terminator.
I had an old IOR and wasn't real proud of it, Mushy Turrets and didn't track real well.
I do want a high magnification option with a lot of elevation, and there just aren't many to choose from.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

Go Nightforce BR. Every IOR I have gotten my hands on has kind of let me down. I haven't used any of the new ones, so I might be chewed out for this opinion, but NF is the bomb.

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

Nightforce BR has no where near enough adj to stretch a 338lapua.
The NXS in 42 power doesnt even have enough unless you go with a 30 or 40 moa rail. then chances are good you cant zero very close.

Thanks,

I don't mean to be discouraging but, doesn't seem to matter what i try for different scope's, i come back to NF over an over as nleader said.

Looks like he has one, perhaps a PM?

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I have an IOR Terminator. Got it primarily for the MOA reticule and SFP. At 52x the 1/2 MOA divisions really help out although I usually leave it at 26x. Glass is great and it tracks perfectly. Have it on my 7 WSM so all the extra elevation adjustment comes in handy although I did have to go to a 45min base.
Cons are the short adjustment travel in the parallax knob and the illumination is a bit low. To be honest I would have preferred the S&B 5-25 with the new MOA reticule but at $3600 now can't really justify it. Got mine from Liberty optics when they were throwing in free binocs which made the deal.

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I love the optics on the scope. Very, very good. I took off a NF 5.5-22x56 to put this on.

When I shoot the rifle I now have the NF on I often find myself going back to the DTA for a sec just so I can look through the Terminator....like it was a spotting scope.

I leave it on 52x pretty much all the time. Even on overcast days I have no trouble getting a good picture.

It's definitely a large scope and it isn't cheap. But if you can handle the size, contact Scott @ Liberty optics...I believe the 2012 'Hide price is about $3100 (and IIRC that includes IOR rings).

All Terminators in the US have been sold out for a couple weeks...they are expecting more around March 1. Be sure to get one quick if you are seriously interested, because they come in pretty limited quantity.

Re: IOR 12-52x56 Terminator

I have two & I'm waiting for another one or two probably two.

I dialed my new 375 out to 2380 last weekend 77.75 moa IIRC with 100 yard zero can't do that with anything else with 52 mag or 40 or even 30 for that matter.

I didn't have to use the reticle & if I did I have another 20moa

The rifle has a 25moa rail on it, I'm not sure now much more I had left on the dial.

The 100 moa is a great feature, I really like the reticle.

I don't use the illumination so I can't comment on that feature

I do have a couple of NSX 5.5-22 x 56 & can get another non zero stop for a lot less than a Terminator, but I would rather look through a Terminator on 26 than any NSX that I have owned.

You need to be brave sometimes, take your blinkers off & look outside the square.

There still is a difference between Asian & European glass/optics.
