Rifle Scopes IOR vs Nightforce

Well with tax time comeing around, and good news from the Accountant it's time for a new scope. I am going to replace the Leupold 10X Ultra on my .260 with a variable with higher magnification.
A friend of mine has an IOR Snipershide Edition on his 6.5 Lapua. After shooting it I fell in love with the MP-8 reticle. So that was what I had decided on. But now some of the guys I shoot with are telling me to go Nightforce over the IOR. So what do the experts here think? Concerns on both are quality and long term customer service.

There are three or four existing threads that ask the exact same thing.

I am an IOR fanboy, love my 3-18x42, however, the NF is also an excellent scope. A new F1 will set you back about 2400 if memory serves. The NXS series are SFP.

Compare your friends IOR to the NF's on your other friends rifle.
The fit and finish is probably better on the NF, the glass is probably better on the IOR.
They are both good scopes, you will be well pleased with either.

I would hope it to be as rugged as the Ultra that was on it. I do take care of my equipment, but I do like to know the strength is there if needed.

I own IOR's but both are very good scopes with their own relative strengths and weaknesses compared to each other. Can't go wrong with either.

How are the new IORs holding up?

The last few FFP scopes they have released look great but the only thing that would hold me back is the durability.

So far so good on my new IOR's, they really have made significant strides in that area.

I'm a big fan of Nightforce. The IORs are very nice scopes and the glass is really nice. The IOR glass maybe better than NF glass but I know for fact that everything I have need to see I have been able to see extremely will with the Nightforce. Another thing is the Nightforce scopes have one of the lowest fail rates in the industry.  With this said I'm sure whatever one you get you will be happy with.

I own both an IOR and the NF like you probably have been hearing th NF is finished nice looks super heavy duty but the IOR isn't that far away and does have better glass in MHO .

Peer through an ATACR and you may change your mind.

I use Leupold on all my rifles except the 338 Lapua which I finally (with the help of hide members) made the switch to Nightforce. I absolutely fell in love with the NXS but it did not diminish my love for Leupold. If you can afford a NXS I recommend it but if not get a varible Leupold mk 4 or 6. My 2 cents FWIW
