I think McRee's Precision makes a very nice chassis system for the price, hard to beat in fact. I currently have two, one for a custom build with a tuned FN/SPR action and one for a custom build with a Stiller's action.
One word of advice from my experience, and others who I know who have had similar experience...be careful when drinking the chassis "cool aid"! And that advice applies to any chassis or chassis like system (i.e. manners mini-chassis, etc). Although most chassis manufacturers advertise "drop in and go" performance, I would advise caution and recommend a light bedding job to ensure best performance that will not disappoint. By the way, several well known top custom rifle builders and tactical shooters who I have talked with echo this recommendation based upon their experience.
My first McRee's chassis, I was lucky and was able to achieve fantastic "drop in and go" performance. My second McRee's chassis, I struggled for several months trying to figure out why a new custom barreled action that I dropped into a McRee's chassis would not deliver better than 1 MOA groups on a good day. After careful inspection (under magnification) I found some slight imperfections in the aluminum surface where the action contacted the chassis. The fix turned out to be a light bedding job that enabled the McRee's chassis build to deliver consistent .25 MOA performance.
