[220 Swift AI]

I am building a 260 up is this the way to go or stay with B&C stock and DBM I have already bought. Also have 2 other rems that will fit that stock.What do you guys think I'm all ears.

Well i have one and another ordered, i'm sold on them. one is a LA and the new one is SA, both folders, makes cleaning easy. There are on sale now for a few more days.

I've got two, and my shooting partner has one also. Tightens up your grouping, gives you a rock solid feel, very modular design, and they look super trick!

I don't think you'd get the same accuracy with fiberglass stocks unless you bed them. With a chassis, it takes two minutes to install, and can be removed any time. I'll never go back to glass and bedding.

I have one on one of my 260s and its a great stock. Very easy to install and simple to get to fit you. No need to fool with that DBM stuff. Their CS is great! Get the folder, you will not be disappointed.

I looked at the option of buying a Stock, and DBM, and having it milled if it needed to be.

After all that thought I went with the Mcrees, and I like it quite a bit! not much more and it folds.

I love mine. After spending $700+ on a fiberglass stock, $300+ on a DBM and then a few hundred for a smith to bed it, and cut it out for a DBM, you're at over a grand $$. $600 for a McRees, drop in your action, torque it down and shoot.

I was quite surprised at how comfortable it felt and how well it shoots. I had mine on a .308 and now I'm putting a Bighorn action in it with a Bartlein in 6.5mm Creedmoor. Should be a laser. Be sure to pick up the stock pack for it...makes shooting in cold weather more bearable as the cheek rest is aluminum. McRees CS is top-notch and they deliver FAST.

On my "prie doesn matter do it once in your life" build I went with a manners with badger m5 and rad latch. It was before the chasis systems were really main stream. If I were going to do it again I would go with the chasis. Dont get me wrong there is nothing at all wrong with my manners, but the chasis is less work (bedding) and cheaper than my manners and bottom metal

Mcree is all I really want to run now. The ergonomics are awesome. Very robust and accuracy is excellent with anything I've run in it. Currently put my 243 varmint dicks special in it for the winter. Shoots lights out.

And do you have an Xlr now or are you just talkin? If you do maybe bring some actual taking points and Intelliect to the ops question.

I think Xlr probably makes a fine chassis as well but for me the tube over barrel hand guard doesn't cut it with the need for extra high rings/base combo to clear the scope bell.

I wanted to say thanks, these McRee threads have been very helpful for my research. I just received my first MP Chassis today! Fit and finish are excellent, dropped my R700 AAC SD in and it fits great. I think I will love this chassis!

Earthtrekker1775, I liked my first LA one so much that i ordered another SA and have been trying to keep this going to see what others have bought and how they are liking them. Hope you enjoy your new McRees. What are you going to put in it. I had a 338 RUM in a BDL that i didn't like to shoot then saw the first thread in the photograthy section and was sold after looking at them. 2 screws and change to another rifle, like changing an upper on an AR. Changed the grip to a Ergo and put the biggest Limbsaver grind to fit pad on it, fit right on. Enjoy.

Wasn't trying to insult your intelligence just wanting to you post your reasons why you chose the Xlr. The op is trying to decide what is right for him and you simply did not state your reason other then Xlr is the way to go with the winky face. That doesn't really help.

Yes, I have tried both systems and the mcree to me is my clear choice. It's not a fact it's an opinion.

I put my Rem 700 AAC SD in it, won't have a chance to shoot it for a while but that will give me time to decide how to paint it.

I've been behind both and like the XLR better. The "strap" over the barrel is no problem other than some rails are too long for it and require a trim or different brand. Running a 50mm objective low rings work fine.

I am now a huge fan of chassis, I like the functionality and flexibility of them and the McRee fits the description.

Chassis all aluminum ... Want to use gloves in the winter...DUHHH

We currently own 3 McRee's.
They are all the carbine version. They have short fore ends and we have chosen to use the AR stock options. All 3 are set up with Magpul CRT stocks. This allows any of us to use the rifles in any clothing that we need. We can adjust the LOP for the shooter or conditions. This is very valuable to me, my wife, friends and eventually kids can all use the rifles. My wife will shoot the LA at ELR and is comfortable because she can make the stock short enough for her...

The stock system also maintains a lighter overall stock. The stocks pictured weigh 3# 12oz with the stock, cheek riser (magpul) and grip. Add your bbl action and go.

Usability of the McRee is very good. For AR shooters the stock and grip aid in familiarity. I prefer a thinner fore end for positional and alternate shooting. The fore end on the McRee's are narrow, but wide enough to hold a Harris without any movement is you use a Harris bi-pod. They are slightly rounded so they don't dig into your hands. Any sized barrel will fit in the bbl channel. They come with flush cups machined into the forearm, and their stock section if you choose to use it.

The machining is excellent and if you tork your action to the same point, the poi has been less then .1 mil from removal to re-installing the same action.

I have pictured a Rem short action folder, Savage short action non-folder and a Rem long action folder.

This thread made me go the their website and I believe, if I remember right, the chassis I tried looked different. I wish the site had better photos and close-ups. When I saw an accessory was a mounting strap, the one for night vision/laser ads...I'm now interested!

I have two of his chassis 300NM and 338 Snipetac. Both are perfect. The only complaint I ever heard was that it was difficult to shoot weak side. easily solved with both cheekpieces installed.

I have one on the way from another Hide member.
Looking forward to getting it mounted up and sending some downrange.

One thing that I find curious is that I see claims that after removing and reinstalling the action it will return to zero.

Being as the barrel and the optic are mounted to the receiver, I don't see how it could not "return" to zero, since it never "leaves" zero.
