Yeah, I read those with a healthy dose of cynicism.
Wasnt it supposed to be 2020 that Al Gore and his acolytes said would be the end of the coastline and many coastal cities due to global warming?

So we get dust blowing west from Africa and radiation blowing east from Chernobyl and Fukushima (and whatever pollution China puts in the air)? Looks like a conspiracy. Shouldn't we be compensated?

I was going to bring those two up,nothing like a big serving of radiation with some fresh caught fish.

Look at our lakes and the limits on fish when mercury enters the picture.
Just a few short weeks ago Michigan was worried about all the nasty stuff in the water busting loose from it's containment place under water

What exactly did you find wrong with the studies? None of them have anything to do with Al Gore or global warming. What exactly did you read, because it doesn't sound like anything I posted?

Yes, silica sand is used to make glass. Most of what blows over from the sahara is silt and clay. Most all the top soil of Barbados is from Africa.

Indeed. This "dust cloud" is actually the good stuff. It feeds the rich ocean currents and rich island soil in the Caribbean. If it stayed, the desert wouldn't be a "desert".
If you could "stop it" it would be catastrophic to certain flora and fauna on a semi-global scale.
It's a good thing.

According to what I have read anyway, the Sahara was a tropical jungle about 6k years ago. If that is true there would not have been much wind erosion of its soils. I think you might be putting the cart in front of the horse, claiming the erosion is making it a desert. Instead of that it is eroding because its a desert.

The silt is an important part of some soils. But i hardly think it would be earth shattering if they stopped.

Sorry, caught me in a cynical moment.
I was mainly caught up in the reefs commentary as the degradation appears to have been happening without the dust. I was merely commenting on previous prognostications of doom for other environmental stuff.
‘Wasn’t dissing your post. Sorry it was taken wrong .
