Is Using the Rear Flip Up Lens Cap as a Left Eye Block Bad Form?

It takes away double vision for me on my LPVO, but I wonder if it will hurt me in the long run. It isn't a real occulder, but flipping it to the side and up helps me shoot (but I am new to shooting). The only thing that my dumb mind can think of is it is flimsy, so relying on it might not be a good idea.

If you will use this, or a similar setup, for home defense, you should learn to shoot without it, because it interferes with your ability to detect and engage targets. If you will use this setup for dynamic, multiple target engagements in competition, then the same answer applies. If you are only shooting informally, or in competition from a fixed position, at single, static targets, there’s nothing wrong with doing this. Shooters participating in certain disciplines have used occluders for years.

Do you have cross dominant vision? If so then use it.

If you’re shooting a long gun with your non dominant eye, you should shoot the side that eye prefers with long guns and bows.

Pistols you can shoot cross-dominant and just turn your head a bit.
