I've got a pre-accutrigger Mod. 12 in .308. (blind magazine) Just got back from a trigger job at local 'smith and now the thing doesn't want to feed, especially on the first and second rounds. It looks like the rounds are too deep in the magazine and the bolt is not catching the base. I've removed/replaced the stock several times and can't find anything apparently amiss. Any suggestions? Thanks...

I tried this ? on the gunsmithing forum and got a lot of looks, but NO replies.....

have you let the smith look at it? is the follower binding or can you see anything that would stop the shells from coming up all the way? ive got no blind mag experience, so thats all ive got at the moment. but first get with your smith and see if its something he did or didnt

The smith is about 60 mi. distant. I'll take the next time I go that way, but was just tinkering in the meantime. I have an itentitical rifle in .223 that I put a Boyd's stock on and had to Dremel out the bottom of the mag well to stop the same problem, but this is the factory stock that came on it. Thanks anyway.

i just cant visualize the whole setup and really cant see what the trigger work would do to cause it, but maybe it has to do with removing it from the stock. id still have to look it over.

so nothing is interfering with the mag, follower and spring?

what exactly did you have done to the trigger, the only thing on the factory style trigger that could really interfer with the way it sits in the stock is the sear, the rear half of the rear pilar has to be removed for sear clearance, depending on what was done to the sear, it could be contacting somewhere and not letting the action sit down into the stock, or where it comes up for the bolt release... BUT I'd bet it's a mag issue

Re: I've got a pre-accutrigger Mod. 12 in .308. (blind

I have tried removing the stock and holding the spring with my fingers and loading the mag. Still doesn't want to feed. I don't see anywhere the mag is bent. The shells seem to be too far down and get more so progressively. The gunsmith is good, so I'm sure he can figure out, but the mechanism is seemingly simple and just beats the crap out of me; but I've been there before. Thanks to all...

I tried turning spring and follower around. The follower is rounded on one end to match the curvature of the magazine, which is rounded on one end and square on the other. Won't work, but thanks.
