Im in the process of maybe buying a mini truck, i just am curious if anyone else has one and what advice they would give. This one is a factory 4 door, i think pretty rare. It is going to need some work though. smokes bad, and has to pull it to get it started. I'd say the rings are shot. just any advice

Lot's of em around these parts. Suck to drive, but are handy. Don't expect to do much with them. Buy a beaten FMC or GM and run them. AC, 4x4 is better, etc.

YOu get what you pay for. Buy something that works.

im still undecided. I can get the parts to fix it and do it myself, its just a matter of digging out the urge to do it. The thing is pretty cool, already camo'd, some mud tires on it, even with it being crew cab the bed is big enough to throw a deer (or cooler) in with easy, maybe two of them. Here we only have to put a slow moving vehicle sign on them to drive them on the highway.

I've got two Mitsubishi 3 cylinders and they are tanks, and the 4 wheel drive is solid. Our ranch is some of the rockiest and roughest country in TX and those little trucks handle just fine. The 45mpg is a huge fuel savings when traveling about the ranch, even ford rangers and such can't touch it and there is no loss in utility.

two thumbs up for ranch applications/ hunting

thanks for the input, i give 2 grand for it, needs some engine work, but i'll still be under 3 with it fixed. Its just a little different shifting with the left hand!

I've had 2 Mazda B2xxx series trucks, before they were rebadged Rangers, and they were reliable, good driving, got around 30mpg, and cheap. I could probably find one this week worth driving for around $2k.

Lots of them in Bama, many on the roads, w/o plates of course. Guys I know run them on the farms, most all have been solid as rocks.

I work on a Naval shipyard base - there are at least 150 of those things running around and that's my fantasy - grab one and make a 4x4, grab another and make a low rider!

Sweet rig!!

Are they street legal?

Re: Japanese mini truck....anyone have/had one?

We have one for our code, I get to drive it from time to time, the dashboard is about 70% identical to my Nissan Hardbody shown above.

Rattles, noisey, but man - it'd be fun to have one!
