Broke out my LRP-07 in 6.5 Creedmoor for the first time this season. Been wanting to try some loads with VVN-550 and finally got around to loading some up. Wish I had done this sooner. This powder works great in my rifle.
I loaded mostly 123 SMKs, but also loaded 5 rounds with 130 ELDs and three rounds of 140 grain SMKs. I loaded the 123s starting at 40.2 grains up to 41.2 grains in .2 grain increments. It was basically one huge node. Every load shot great with SDs mostly in the single digits or low teens.
Overall average for eight, five shot groups was right at 1/2 MOA. Best groups were in the .3s. Taking the best four from each group averaged .295" for eight groups. Velocities ranged from 2704 fps with 40.2 gr to 2800 with 41.2 gr with no pressure signs. Could definitely go higher.
The 130 ELDs shot .341" at 2745 fps with 40.5 grains and an SD of 9. Again, no pressure signs.
The three rounds of 140 SMK went .454" at 2766 FPS with 41.4 grains.
I would think this powder would work well in any 6.5 Creedmoor AR. It's a little pricey, but it's given me the best results of any powder I've tried so far. Very consistent.
