This is chaffing my ass these days.It seems today peaple
could give a shit less to KEEP THERE WORD.When it comes down
to it. it is all we have.If your word is no good,neither are
you.I have made some deals with peaple latley and they just
stick it to you.oh sorry I had a better offer on that.Wait

I hear ya Sentinel!! In my generation a man's word WAS his credibility. That seems to have gone by the wayside. Now, it's my word is good only until I change my mind for any reason.

You know I bought something on here the other day and after I said I'll take it I realized that it wasn't what I really thought it was or wanted. Guess what, I sent the man his money same day because I said "I'll Take it"

I just don't see it any other way. And don't want to!!!

reminds me of a country song that goes something like this

"a handshake and mans good word is all you need" i wish things were like this these days. I feel that my generation is the downfall of this, and i hate to see that my generation is going down this path. But if i tell you ill take something, you have my word, and i expect the same. I feel that there are alot of MEN on this board that this holds true with, but the very small percentile that dont do that, put a bad vibe off for the rest of us.

I grew up hearing my Grampa's saying that your word was what your name was made from. It was Honor, Integrity, Respect, and Loyalty all rolled into one. If someone said they were going to do something, then it was done. No deal was complete until it was a handshake over the phone or in person or in today's case, an e-mail that said you will do something.

With that said, I am remiss in packaging a small box for sobrbiker883. Off to insure it goes out Tuesday Afternoon(VA Monday in a place that still does not work between my brain and my mouth, Murfreesboro is proper, but it seems to be locally pronounced as Murfeesbro)

I do not know when it changed for sure, but today is the "ME"
generation, if there is benifit to go back on your word no big deal. Screw everyone else, it is all about and for me. Up too and until they get shafted in some way, then it is someone elses fault.

I have been asked to be the guest speaker at a local Marine Corps recruiter dinner in a few weeks, I have a part in my speech, about serving in the Corps, you have become part of somthing bigger than yourself, a fact lost on todays ME society.

Not to be a grammar Nazi but.......
It's actually "their" word, not "there" word. There indicates a place.
On the topic, I agree completely, as a cop that's all I've got. You lose respect from co-workers or the court system in which you work and you might as well go flip hamburgers. Get caught in a lie and you are done,and it reflects on ALL law enforcement. Your word is all you've got at the end of the day.

Firstly too many people just feel that character and keeping your word is not something to even consider and secondly, all too often, because others are just now willing to not even hold people accountable to their word unless they can get a lawyer involved, there's no consequence to being a spineless rat.

Personally, I don't think they should be allowed to just get off scott free. With that said, I'll name and shame.

The idiot who goes by the name of Zombie101 didn't just back out of a deal with me here, he just didn't even bother to tell me he changed his mind. When I called him on it he thought it was funny and I was being unreasonable about being pissed off. I would not trust him on anything.

You can't control anyone else, you can only control yourself. I live by my own code and my word is my bond. If it costs me money or time or whatever to uphold my word, then so be it. I might be more careful about what I promise next time. I have very low expectations from other people, but once in a while I get pleasantly surprised.
