Kestrel firmware version 1.19 is available for download using the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app as of today (March 6th) and is available for download using a PC currently (MAC will be available later this week). This new firmware version contains new features for the Elite model such as Target Card (briefly called Multi Target), extended 5500 yds max range, increased solver accuracy at extreme long range and a few small additions to make navigating the menus faster and easier. Along with the firmware update, the cost of an Elite has been reduced to $699. We are also releasing a new unit, the 5700, which replaces our older Sportsman unit. The 5700 retails for $399 and has some new feature available in both the 5700 and Elite. The first called "Easy Mode", is a setting targeted at shooters who are new to using a Kestrel ballistics meter which simplifies the use of the Kestrel and gives the user additional guidance to get started. Inches and cm have been added to the display options for Elevation and Windage as well as an Muzzle Velocity calibration guide tool to ensure users get the most accurate MV calibration possible.

5700 units will start shipping out today but please be patient as we work on fulfilling all the back orders.

Good day, may be help to uninstall app Kestrel Ballistics. Then install again clean app and after that i saw that new firmware popup on the screen.

I tried this deleted both links and bal apps and re intalled.no notification and on top of that all my gun profiles gone! Lmao

Shortly after making 1.19 available, we found an issue that appeared if you performed a DSF cal without first performing an MV Cal. We pulled 1.19 and are working to get a fix up very soon. Sorry for the additional delay. We work hard to test internaly and with beta testers to make sure that shooters can be confident in the accuracy and features in the Kestrel and are excited to get the new features in 1.19 out for everyone to use. Because this bug does not impact our new 5700 model which does not have DSF truing, we have restarted building and shipping that unit.

Hello, you can still send your gun profiles from Kestrel unit to your mobile phone via Kestrel Ballistics App. You need to conect it with BT and send back. Nothing is lost.

Hello, in Kestrel bullet database is a little bit error. For Lapua Scenar bullet you have G7=0,393 BUT two years ago Lapua published new measured data for it and NEW G7 is ONLY 0,368. It is wrong in Applied Ballistics for Android too.

Totally confused and frustrated! First Kestrel says that Bug doesn't affect new 5700 unit and they are shipping that. Then they say there is no workable upgrade for those of us that have the 5700 Elite Ballistics. I bought mine from them at the SHOT Show 6 weeks ago and have not had a usable firmware since. The unit is getting to be a very expensive paperweight----

Yes, correct. We are all in waiting pattern, anxiously awaiting the new FW update. Even with the bug, I'm running 1.18 and its great improvement. I upgraded before they found the bug and took down the upgrade link. So just run whatever FW comes on your new Kestrel and stay tuned here.

Yes I am also running 1.18 and I really like the improvements I also upgraded before it got pulled.

I had to uninstall Kestrel app to see 1.20 update. After that update starts. Without uninstall and install again i did not see new firmware. Thank you for corrected errors.

Sometimes the older firmware update file will get cached on the mobile device (so you aren't notified). You can try clearing cache for the Kestrel Link Ballistics program on Android. This isn't an option on iOS though. Also sometimes going to Airplane mode and back will make the program look for the new firmware update file. As a last resort, uninstalling and reinstalling the app will fix this as well.

Open the Kestrel LiNK app on your computer. Go to Help->Update Your Kestrel and click and run the link in Step 1. This grabs the 1.20 onto your computer. Then connect to LiNK and go to Manage->Firmware update.

Awesome, that did it. I'm all operational now, with all my guns moved over to the new FW. MV Temp appears to be working at least it is changing the MVs based on the temps. I especially like the new "Target Card" feature - very useful for me.

Hi @daved , sorry for the delay and the frustration. Firmware 1.20 is now available. This update will fix bugs we found in the features you saw at SHOT. Apologies for the wait and hope you like the new features.
