Kid punished at school for saying yes Ma'am to the teacher

A little bit ago we were having a spirited discussion with some people stridently saying that using Yes Sir and Yes Ma'am was of ultimate importance.

It seems however that no matter which side of the debate you fall on, somebody is going to get really mad at you:

Apparently the teacher decided to punish the kid kind of harshly and even tried to stop her little feet at the kid's parents to make them respect her stupidity.
Somehow the teacher got to keep their job???

Like the liberal cow in my office that introduced me to some college students today and as we laughed about kids she told them my “partner” and I have 3 kids.

I corrected her immeadiately and told her it was my fiancé. Not going to let their SJW crap mess up my parade.

Told them the story. Was told to return to school the next day and toss the pages I was given, all blank, on the teachers desk. And when questioned about it, tell the teacher that if there was an issue, to call my parents. So, she called. Big mistake. My friends saw my father in the office and let me know, thinking I was in trouble. My father tore the teacher and Vice Prinipal a new asshole.

From my experience it depends on the conversation. That word has never been appreciated during an arguement. I have dated a couple of women that really liked the “dirty talk” and they would use that term themselves, frequently.

This really gets on my nerves. A couple years back I had this asshole truck driver come in the Waffle House I was working at up here and like EVERYONE I talk to, I referred to him as sir. He gets a smart ass tone/attitude and says "don't fuckin call me sir, I actually work for a living" as if in a way to imply that I don't. I try to keep my cool and without really thinking say "sorry sir (**I really didn't even mean to say it this time**), I wasn't raised in a place like this here big city and had good parents so it's automatic ingrained in my vocabulary". So he gets all huffing and puffing since I accidentally said it the 2nd time and said "get your manager out here now".

I did and my manager told him we're sorry and take it easy on FC he's going on 67 hours and counting, all night shift and it wasn't personal yada yada. The fucker then goes on a tirade about that ain't even close to work, I just clocked 100 hours yada yada. Lol I was astounded. Wanted to tell him motherfucker you're talkin to the wrong one about what work is for one. I've put in more time and effort bailing hay, straw, and in a tobacco field and barn than any pussy ass shit you done. And I somewhat agree waffle house ain't so bad compared to the type work I did growin up but it's a damn sight more than sitting in a fucking truck! Jeez I wanted to strangle that dude by the time he finally left. The only rationale I can come up with for certain folks demanding not to be called sir/ma'am "because they work" is they come from a way different culture than me and I just need to try and make the effort to exclude it when talkin to em. Like it takes actual effort for me not to say it, I still vividly remember every smack on back of the head when I forgot to say it as a youngin'

Got the same response last Friday from a sub contractor. Gave him the old “good for you” reply. Then told him to not feel special because I treat everyone who deserves it, like an ass. I think we use certain terms because it’s what we’ve been taught, in an attempt to treat people nicely. Just like his response was learned. But sometimes those douches run into someone who lets them know how Asshats should be treated, once they expose themselves, in this world.
Common courtesy goes a long way in this world.

FC I understand your feelings and I was like that for many years myself. That is how I was raised.
After I did my drafted stint in the US Army 69-71, counting my medical hold time, I came out of that with the thought that "Sir" is a gained, earned, salutation and not just for anybody that had a bar or star on their collar and that is how I talked to them.
The Officer Corps at that time were very varied, some had earned it but at that time many were just OCS or ROTC or some other kind of BULLSHIT Officer program and they were the first to make sure you called them Sir. God knows I hated them, but did have all due respect for the good ones I served with and for, for them, Sir was the first thing out of my mouth.
To this day I ask ANYONE that calls me "SIR" to not refer to me again with that insult, call me FM, Mike or asshole, just not SIR..
I am always polite with it and never mention,"I work for a living." or any other shit like that, just let them know I DO NOT like being called Sir.
It works for me and while I very much respect the Kids or Punks that call me that, after I ask them not to call me that they generally comply.
So, with that said, maybe I can get aboard this Cunts train if she had asked him kindly several times to not call her that and he was just defying her I might be on her side. Kids can be pricks.

I had a conversation with a lesbian about that. Evidently she had offended a woman with the C word and got a tongue lashing (not that kind) over it, about how bad the word was and it should never be used.

I don't mind getting sir unless it's being said sarcastically. I'll take the small amount of respect that's put in to the salutation. Well, the late R. Lee Ermey said in Full Metal Jacket that "there is no racial bigotry here" and goes on to say he doesn't look down upon niggers and he was white. When my son was in first grade, he (we) joined Cub Scouts. In the first meeting, the “Scout Leader” was talking to the boys about what things we’re going to be doing during the year, and talking to the parents about what’s expected of them. I’m in the back of the room just listening and taking notes. From his accent, it was obvious that the leader was from way up North somewhere.
The leader asked one of the boys a question, and the boy answered “Yes sir.” The leader looked at the boy and said, “Son, you don’t have to say sir to me.”
My hand immediately shot up and I said “Excuse Me, I don’t know where you’re from, but from your accent, you’re obviously not from around here. You are in the South now, and these boys WILL say ‘Yes Sir, no sir, yes ma’am and no ma’am, and you will be ok with it. As a matter of fact, you will expect it and require it.” I saw a couple parents shaking their heads in agreement.
We didn’t have any more issues with that the rest of the year.
