Well the Russian guy seems to be rather down to earth and not all gloating and going on about his upcoming book tour like so many western types.

If you find yourself in a close quarters fight, you F#@$! UP, because the chances are very good that your fate will be determined by luck, and in a real world life or death battle as shown in the video that started this discussion, it is going to get very ugly!

It might be fine in war, the context of this thread, but that was some sort of force on force training class in Atlanta, presumably not for folks destined to be shipped to the Ukrainian-Russian front.

I've seen that video before it's real no idea why that guy was off by himself running up on that building with no backup is crazy you don't know whats coming out the door. They must be fighting on a really desperate level in that area.

No matter the time period, a reasonable sized (3.5" to 4.5" assisted/automatic folder, or 3" to 5" fixed blade) knife will ALWAYS be essential as a last ditch CQB fight ender. The reason: When a fight becomes close contact and survival instincts take over, a properly deployed/drawn knife is an extension of your hand. And instead of using your bare hand to try clawing or otherwise pushing or pulling the assailant's limbs away from you, you will be cutting, severing, and doing biomechanical destruction with every move your hand is making.

A properly deployed knife during a defensive situation is one that the assailant does not even see until they are actually fading away and dying. It is a tool that relies on complete surprise. One second, the assailant has you in a grapple or a hand over your mouth or neck from behind. They seemingly feel your fist thudding weakly against their side, and at first they think nothing of it as it doesn't really hurt. And then they wonder why they are suddenly feeling really lightheaded and disoriented. They let you go, and noticing a sensation of wetness at their side, look downward only to see that their entire abdominal cavity had been carved out by you twisting and then pushing the blade through their innards like you were coring a soft and bruised part out of an apple. Intestines dangling down and everything just seemed to have fallen out. That is when the realization hits them, that they are about to find out what is on the "other side" of the mortal coil...

Like all weapons and tools, mentality and the willingness to absolutely and quickly end a bad situation with them is the first and foremost key to success with actually using that tool. You have to be pragmatic, utterly willing to play in the dirtiest fashion, with only survival in mind.

I prefer a pink pepper sprayer , adds cuteness. The only thing is it doesn't match with my camo outfit.

I always used a toothbrush handle, melted, formed, and sharpened. They don’t cut for schit but they’re hell for punctures.
