Just trying to get some opinions from all you Krg owners out there if you went with the folder or the fixed and why. Love the idea of the folder just worried about how well it locks up over time.

I just want peoples opinions after having one. I can see a folder coming in handy since I run a 24" barrel and don't want to buy a fixed just to be kicking myself in 6 months for not getting the folder. And in this case the price difference doesn't matter.
Fyi fixed are in stock right now.

I travel all the time so having a folder is extremely nice for the space savings. It also makes cleaning slightly more convenient. If these things are important to you, then go for the folder.

Re: Krg whiskey III folder or fixed?

The design of the folder uses a tapered stud locking mechanism that will be self compensating for wear, I can't see it ever loosening up.

I have both stocks and the folder is as tight as the fixed, the ONLY 2 differences (as far as shooting) I could see with the folder is slightly more weight (5-6 oz...?) and you lose the "thumbshelf" on the left side if you want to float your thumb up there.

The folder is also handy for removing the bolt, as you can just slightly move the stock to the side, instead of removing the cheekpiece.

Thanks for that info, I have only seen and shot a gen II fixed before so its nice to hear about the slight differences they have. I dont think weight (especially 5-6 oz) will play that much in my choice. Its still over a pound lighter than my current stock. Again thanks!

Re: Krg whiskey III folder or fixed?

Fixed= Pelican 1750
Folder=Pelican 1720

It's handy to instantly cut 12" off the OAL of a rifle sometimes. Until I have to downsize to a smaller vehicle I won't regret the fixed stock.

Re: Krg whiskey III folder or fixed?

I Had the Folder on my Tikka T3 (now sold) and LOVES IT!!! Will be getting another Folder Rear for my TRG 22 As Soon As Funds Allows!!!

It locks up tight and solid, don't worry! You won't regret it! If you don't like it down the road, you can always just sell the rear section to some one or swap with a fixed owner that want's a Folder Rear. If you're getting it for a Tikka then the Rear Section on the Tikka Versions can Bolt on to a TRG so you can sell it to a TRG owner then get you a fixed rear. Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Interesting. I've looked at these stocks a couple of times but have shied away from them because I too thought the buttstock would get loose with extended use. That doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks guys.

I have a fix but thinking about convert it to folder. Like other said make it easy to clean and compact for transportation.

The new genIII fixed cannot be converted to a folder. Only up to the gen II can be converted. So I am kind of screwed on that front.
