I recently shot a 308 with a good brake and a Kynshot Recoil Buffer and it was like shooting a 223. With enough eye-relief there's no scope eye as it only compresses about a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch at the most.

I know McMillan once did something similar with a Hydraulic stock to mitigate 50bmg... it's very different technology, but similar idea. How detrimental do you think this movement would be in precision shooting?

In all seriousness, it's a gimmick for lack of body position and lack of actual training.

In my mind, that will effect your follow thru on the trigger, having the rifle move that much under recoil IMO that's not repeatable.

Spend the 15$ and watch some videos

Classic.

It was a joy to shoot with the buffer.

I get the less moving parts the better, but why is a buffer that moves straight back going to throw off accuracy?

Pads compress on the stock or on your shoulder.

Who doesn’t want less recoil? It doesn’t help you shoot better. Hahah.

Ok here’s an analogy. So I may not know much about PRS or BR, but guys in BR shoot on sleds. The whole rifle moves back sliding on bags.

So maybe the reason why the buffer is problematic is because it doesn’t allow the rifle to move, but instead might even in resistance cause a deficiency.

Now I may have answered my own question, but that’s not why I asked it.

Yea on follow through I was thinking the same thing because of the movement it seems to impact sight picture that is a problem - probably the best reason not to use it, but if you can keep a good sight picture I don’t see a problem with it.

So I dont know what a sled is. But the BR guys have a big front rest and a rear rest with bunny ears that allows the rifle to move back under recoil without imparting and force on the rifle. Or they have it stop on thier shoulder after a few inches. Known as free recoil. With no follow thru.

A tactical rifle guy or a dude that uses a bipod and a rear bag. Keeping a good sight picture with also spotting misses and making corrections. Not good when the rifle compresses 1/2 inch. Also is that compression repeatable over 30rds if not your building your positions for every shot over again.

I run one on my blowback 9mm sbr....it's freaking great. The whole system runs alot smoother when compared to the different spring and buffer combos Ive tested.

Never run one on a lug system tho..mmm never really felt the need I guess.

It’s a good point about repeatability. Sled I meant it slides like a sled. All good feedback thanks.

This is the McMillan hydraulic stock and for good reason no tampons required.

50BMG 13500 energy
308 2700 energy

that's a multiplier of 5

Hi,

Have you ever shot a BMG with that hydraulic system?
I am going to wager on NO, because it sucks...there are a few reasons why the USN dumped the McM stocks on the BMGs and that is 1 of them.

Attempting to justify/debate on whether or not a hydraulic dampener is needed on a 308 because McM put it on a BMG is like saying fire resistant suits are good to wear in LA traffic because John Force racing uses them.....completely different realm.

It would kind of be like me explaining why you should smoke xyz cigar but yet I do not smoke..... ;)

Sincerely,
Theis

I'm not commenting one way or the other about the comparison between 308 or 50 cal. Yea, it's not needed on a 308, but I shot it and I was like wow it shoots like a 223. Pretty cool. There was no recoil at all. Interesting.

You aren't shooting a 50, ya Askhole. That's what you are. You've asked the question, received answers both straight forward and satirical, but it's not the answer you wanted. So now you're arguing trying to get us to agree that some gimmicky device only an 11 year old girl might benefit from is a good idea.

If you're going to buy one regardless why ask what anyone thinks in the first place? I think everyone has made their opinion on this POS Gizmo known, including you.

So go buy one, guessing you already did before you asked, hence the rabid fight for acceptance of a poor purchase. If you see guys pointing and laughing it's not you, I'm sure they were just telling a joke or something.

Rabid fight for acceptance. Pah! Haha.

I asked my 9 year old to weigh in on this one, he summed it up pretty good. His answer was "the guy who liked it should just shoot a creedmoor."
He took his first deer last year with a 6.5
But in my sons defense, he didnt whine about practicing with a .308 either.
Bwahhahaha.

If you would buy a gay tiger and then insert said hydraulic system into rear you could then get the bipod that functions similarly, then shoot it free rcoil!!! You could hit any target at any range...

If you walked to it...

Just my 2 cents
