Hey all,

It's a long shot, but I was seeing if anybody is near Billings (within an hour or so ) that has or knows of land that's got space to hang steel out to 1 mile.

I've been buying steel and hanging them up on BLM and state land for everyone to enjoy for a while now. After about 300$ worth of steel that's gone missing I'm hoping to find somewhere that's a little more permanent.

The dream (besides owning land myself) is to find a spot and hang steel 300yards out to 1 mile . I'd be willing to buy everything/ set up and even pay a monthly "access" fee.

If it's less then a mile but you still want a steel range on your property, I'm willing to do that too as long as I can use once or twice a week also ( or as much as it's ok)

Should go without saying, but people seem to have lost respect, so I'll say it anyways...I walk in, shut gates, pick up brass/trash, and don't hunt on land I haven't asked to do so. Only thing that would be left is the targets for anybody to use.

Ive been dragging plates and gear on BLM so even during the set up I won't be using vehicles on your property unless it's been given permission.

If anybody around here knows of anything shoot me a message and we can trade numbers. If you don't know of anything but want to go shooting do the same and we can hit up some dog towns or bang steel.

you would have to call the burro of land management in your state and see if it has blm land you could use unless someone here could recommend a place .good luck , I would be very jealous we have nothing like that around me 1000 yards is the longest close everything else is a over night drive or vacation its sad that it only takes a few slobs to ruin great places to shoot .

I'm pretty fortunate that there's plenty of BLM and state land here to shoot at, but it's open for everybody and your spot on... The few slobs did ruin it. Its getting pretty old dragging out a 100lb's worth of steel out a mile on a walk in only section with only my sweat and a game sled, just to come back a week later and see tire tracks, beer cans , and trash where the targets were.

It's a real shame, it was pretty cool to see new "dings" in the steel and some thank you notes on the "start line " flags indicating distance and size of targets. Put a lot a work in those sites, really bummed me out to see the jerks trash the precious public land we are lucky to have.

your problem may be the manner in which you are hanging the steel. One of my friends has steel that has been up over a year. He hung it with massive bolts and peened the heads round so they cant be removed. he hung them in an inaccessible area and painted them an unobtrusive color.
