I received my Larue OBR (formerly OSR), with 16.1 in. barrel yesterday. I mounted a NF 2.5-10 in the Larue mount and determined the rig was roughly zeroed without adjustment by looking thru the barrel and optic while sandbagged. It is good when stuff comes out of the box, goes together, and is very close to zero !

First rounds were 8in high 2in RT, and one adjustment yielded a perfect zero. I managed about 1-1/2 in group in a fierce wind at 100yds.

The OBR barrel is as slick as any I have ever seen. I like to break a barrel in, cleaning with Tetra after each shot for a while. It seems polished, and two or three tight patches clean it right up.

Here are the pics:

The barrel is a Lothar Walther LW-50.

Re: Larue OBR on the range

Last I heard they were calling orders from late December 2008 (I can confirm they got past 12/14 though I'm still waiting for the 20" to start shipping) that was last week so they probably are in January 2009 orders now.

Re: Larue OBR on the range

I ordered Nov '09...projected Juneish '10 arrival (Did not ask for specific. Was just a round number from LaRue)

boomfab - I think the gas block comes standard.

Still no word on 18s or 20s.....

Adjustable gas block is standard on all of them

Yeah you would think with the number of people asking about the longer guns Larue would get the hint and say something about when we can expect to see them...not a word.

He said they tested one on Saturday. Thats progress, and you take what you can get I suppose.

And someone confirmed on Ar15.com that they were starting to call the 01/09 orders today.

Yep. Ordered 1/2/09, got the call this morning (1/5/10).

One should keep in mind that the initial orders were placed before production. Now that there are rifles going out I'll bet the times will go down.

Must have been more orders than i thought. Sounds like they were barely able to keep up with the 1 year backlog, thats probably why the raised the price, try and get that back log down to where you can order a rifle and actually get it in a month or so.

Re: Larue OBR on the range

I got the call last week and was asked if I wanted to change my 18" barrel order to a 16" barrel so i could get the rifle right away. When I said no I was told that I should be getting another call in about 30 days because that is when the longer barrels will start rolling in. I placed my order in November of 2008.
