just got the email that my 18' larue stealth upper has shipped.....pretty stoked. Will post pics and range report when it arrives.

Debating the whole stealth billet lower thing.....

currently, the upper is slated for a lmt lower with sopmod stock, giessle SSA trigger and spr grip. Hard to justify 250 bucks and the work for what is most likely pure cosmetics. Anyone have an opinion on that???

Re: larue stealth on way

I would have to agree. I have 3 stealth uppers and 0 stealth lowers. The lowers look great, but did not seem worth a price premium when there is no accruacy or reliability to be gained.

Re: larue stealth on way

My 18" upper mates perfect with the LMT lower with SOPMOD stock, so I think you'll be good to go! I have ZERO complaints with mine.

I have a question for you, about how long did it take from the time you ordered your upper til the time they shipped it? I just ordered an upper from larue and I was told 6-8 weeks.

Re: larue stealth on way

I will double check, but I think its been right around 5 weeks.....it will be 6 by the time it is on my doorstep. I am eager but also assume it will be worth the wait!

Re: larue stealth on way

I have POF, APA and Larue billet lowers. Larue is my favorite. Great fit, finish and styling. I'll buy your Larue lower if get it and don't like it. How's that for a guarantee?

Re: larue stealth on way

Well, for what its worth the Larue lowers are ONLY available to buyers of their Stealth uppers. So not many people are gonna have that specific lower (which is a nice lower), plus it complements the upper receiver.

That stealth upper should shoot very well.

Re: larue stealth on way

The Larue lowers are VERY, VERY NICE!! The fit and finish is excellent and, of course, they mate up with the Stealth uppers perfectly. They certainly cost a little more than some other billet lowers on the market but they are still competitively priced with others. It is your call, but they are worth it IMO.

LaRue now sells their lowers with out having to purchase the upper.

I vote to go with the LaRue lower, I managed to get one for my Stealth Upper and I love it.

Re: larue stealth on way

I hear their lowers are some of the best, not to mention the opportunity to have a full larue rifle! I plan on getting one, but after dropping the large amount of cash for the upper, I am going to have to wait a bit.

Its a debatable topic, but it has something to do with m4 feed ramps being for carbine length gas systems due to the timing and bullet seating aspects. No need for ramps on the larue.

Re: larue stealth on way

The reciever will be fine on a carbine. I forgot to mention the reason they put m4 feed ramps on is because if issues with fully automatic feeding. With the carbine, there would be so little time between cycles, that there was feeding problems. The round wold not seat properly between cycles. So they grinded down into the reciever a feed ramp that will scoop up the round more effectively. The problem is that doing so will cause the round to not line up within the chamber effectively. Its hard to explain, sorry if I don't make sense, lol.

+1 on that

Re: larue stealth on way

I have an 18" Stealth with the 13.2 on a LaRue lower, it was all free so what the heck. I can tell you the fit is pretty tight with the lower. It hurts to get the takedown pins out...LOL
I recently got rid of the Leupold Mark AR scope that came on it and put a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 and it shoots great. Easily 1 MOA with 69 grain Federal Match. It impressed me when I walked it back to 300 yards.
