Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

Re: Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

The poll won't tell us much about the range finders themselves, as it depends on the size of the target. I ranged a building at 1380yards with a CRF 1200 and a hill at 6800m with a Vector IV. So what?

Re: Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

I have the Swarovski.
Black Cow 994 yds
3 Bull Elk standing close 1100 yards
15" reflective Balloon 1204 yds
4'X6' large cardboard target 1784 yds
Large clump of aspen trees 1996 yards

If it is less than 1300 yards it does great.
From 1300 to 1500 not bad but I have to be real steady.
From 1500 to 2000 it has to be a Big target or a real reflective target.

I am glad to see the Zeiss is doing so good, I have been looking hard at the Zeiss 10X45RF.

^^ THIS ^^

What specific information are you hoping to derive from your polls?

Re: Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

Sure, I have the Zeiss Victory LRF and have ranged in excess of 1400 yds for large structures/features. But I'm with the "so what" crowd.

I have no complaints with it from a ranging perspective but does it do everything that I want? No, I'd still rather have a really good pair of 8x or 10x binos that, oh by the way, can range as well. I'm just too cheap to pull the trigger on Geovids or Victory binos (or maybe the Bushnell is good enough). Too many rifles or scopes to buy... $.02

Re: Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

1850yds with the fusions, on an oak tree. It does have a tough time with smaller objects in front of bigger ones at over 650yds. When I say smaller I mean a 6 or 8" plate 25 yds in front of a big ass hill. Is this unrealistic to ask it to range?

Re: Laser Rangefinder Distance Poll

There's only one problem that no one seems to realize. You can range all you want, but what if the range is incorrect? Have any of you confirmed the ranges by using a GPS or some other method of exactly measuring the distance?

Before you flame me, I have a Zeiss LRF and just because it gives me a range, doesn't mean I don't try to doublecheck it.
