The caption says it all. Barring any surprises, I am finished. I got my Constitutional Law grade back and I nailed a solid "B." That class caused me some anxiety. From the scuttlebutt, several people failed and have to repeat a nine-month class.
For a little background on how I came to be in law school in my forties.......
I have always had pretty good jobs and I was working at Bridgestone Tires with brother "slickrick" and "banshee." No problem with the money situation, I just wanted to do something else. That lead me to go back to college and finish a degree that had been languishing for about 10 years. At the time, I did not know I was going to go to law school, but I knew I wanted something else. The first night of class, we had to stand up and tell something about ourselves. A big guy stood up in the front of the class and introduced himself. He said he was going to go to law school. Then and there, I decided that was what I was going to do.
It has been a real task. I went to Nashville School of Law where you can attend and still work fulltime. I remember getting out of class at 10pm; driving home; changing clothes and going into work at midnight to study. I would have to clock in at 7am to build tires for 12 hours. It has finally paid off.
I am not going to take the bar exam until July because I have used up all my vacation and cannot get any time off to take the study courses. I am going to work(I hope) with a public defender on my days off from B'stone to get some experience.
My plan is to open up a practice in a small neighboring town. In some places, you cannot swing a dead cat and not hit a lawyer, but I think I can go to a small town and become known for fair dealing and make a good living.
