Back during the group buy , I picked up 2 of the 8000 barreld actions . It was back when Bobby was running things after Barney died.

Well , when putting one together last week , I noticed that 3 of the 6 scope base screw holes were only tapped about 4 threads deep . No problem says I . Dig out the handy dandy 8-40 tap and finish it off. Everything going great , then ...... tick . Yep tap broke.

Now not wanting to fuck up a bad situation , I send an email to Lawton and YELL , HELP!

20 minutes later , John calls and says " ooooohhh , yep , the receivers are hardned. Send it to us and we will make it good" So I ship it out on Monday , he has it Wednesday , and is now back on the way to me by Friday. He said , " we fixed a few other things that should have been done before it ever left the first time "

So I close with the fact they have done good by my book , and they could have said sucks to be you dude !

Thanks John !!

Greg

Agreed.

Re: Lawton did me right!!

Here you go gents.
I understand your misgivings . hell , I got burnt on the stock deal with Dean too.

Greg

Greg,

Your two packages are on their way back to you. I fixed a few things that should have been done before this rifle left the shop the first time.
Everything checks out fine now. Please let me know if you ever need anything else.

Regards,
John

What are the scope base screw threads on the 8000. I have 4 holes on the receiver that are only tapped 3 threads deep.

Thanks ,

Greg

Re: Lawton did me right!!

That does nothing for us.....

Glad you got your stuff but he burned almost everyone else that has dealt with him.

My 8500 action is in for repairs right now with another smith. All because they were to lazy to look it over at their facility. Cost me a new barrel as well.

Re: Lawton did me right!!

I got a .338 snipetac from them a few years back and lets just say after all the crap and problems that I had to deal with and their lack of communication I will NEVER buy anything from them again.

Re: Lawton did me right!!

From their website:

All of our actions are machined to exacting specifications to ensure all mating surfaces are strong and reliable. Each action is tirelessly inspected ......
