LBT Inc Gear question

So LBT Inc has a Father’s Day sale going on and I am looking for some advice.
They have the modular plate carrier and the SRT.

Looking for opinions on those two or better options within similar price range.

Quality, versatility,adjustability, padding, ventilation/air flow, hydration/comms compatibility all are considerations as well as weight.

This will be my first carrier and I would like to avoid as many mistakes as possible.

If its not on deep super duper discount, stay away. As I am sure you know, the LBT stuff is fantastic but their listed MSRP pricing is absolutely insane due probably to contract pricing requirements.

The low profile is ok, but nothing special. I would have taken a harder look at it if it were like $59 on sale or something. The SRT is about 3x the price it should be, especially since you can get the 6094 carrier from them at times for <150$. There's always a ton of 6094s on ebay as well (get it from someone like LegitKit and read the descriptions so you dont end up with LBT-Emerson or some shit); the upside is its a solid built carrier thats been around. Downside is, it isn't really optimized like the 'newer' gen of carriers in regards to comfort, cutting weight and air flow. I had one before we lucked out and got Crye CVC carriers which were thinner/lighter and were supposed to literally burn off and release if on fire - I never tested that part out though.

If you were considering those 2, seems your price range is well within basically anything short of a Crye CAGE. I will say that if this is your one and only carrier, you definetly want something with a cummerbund where you can actually attach something to if needed. Alot of the 'low profile' carriers simply give you some kind of elastic slick cummerbund which does make it conform to your body a bit better and is a hair lighter, but you're then stuck having to put everything either directly in front or directly in back. Doesn't allow for gear scaling very much as well as balancing whats on your carrier and starts making you have to make decisions like 'do I want extra mags....or my IFAK/radio?' which is the dumbest circular argument that there is.

Look at these as well as any upgrades/acessories they can have a ssome allow for cummerbund upgrades and/or zip on panels and see what fits or what direction you think you may want to go:

- Velocity Systems SCARAB
- Velocity Systems/Mayflower LPAAC
- Crye JPC 2
- Crye SPC (awesome light carrier, a total bitch to assemble the first time)

Unless you're gonna be wearing this day in and day out and depending on it, take my advice and get something quality but low cost. The Crye JPC is about the best bang for buck I know of. I have a couple plates left from a divorce I may install in one.

I have some nice armor but short of a civil war I'll never wear it. I MIGHT be able to use the JPC doing some "backyard ops" of my own (re-familiarization training or whatever the fuck --dressing up at the range, more or less). But in all truth that one will also just sit next to the MSHA Paraclete and IOTV currently collecting dust. I just can't bring myself to sell the shit.

Condor shit... Army allows a company to sell it on post. It'll get the job done but I wouldn't wanna depend on it day in and day out. If you really wanted to save a few shekels on something that's gonna sit in the closet collecting dust, well, it'll do. But I'd still recommend the JPC2 just because the cost/quality is hard to beat.

I've have both a Crye JPC and an Agilite K5. The Crye is nice and slim, but to me the K5 is far for more comfortable and not much bigger. I wore the JPC for about 2 years and a set of medium plates are little tight in the plate pockets and you might want a set of shoulder pads for longtime wear. The K5 has plenty of room for plates and has a nice securing system to keep the plates from moving around.

I’m taking a closer look and researching the Velocity Systems/Mayflower LPAAC and the Agilite K5.

Currently these two would seem to be a good fit.

Anything from velocity systems is gtg. I think they own Mayflower now. optactical is a good place to shop options.

Like everything else everyone said Velsyst makes great stuff, but check out Ferro Concepts, Perroz Designs, Spiritus Systems, they all make great stuff. The Velsyst LWPC is super feature rich and has a great internal plate system, and its pretty affordable.
