Gunsmithing Left hand build questions

Okay, so I'm a lefty looking to build another project.
My current setup is a Savage w/Shilen .260 bbl, HS stock.
It shoots super.
I'm thinking about another action to work with.
People seem to like the 700, but I'm still doing research to see if it's worth working with over a Savage. So far, I can't see why I would. If you disagree, please tell me. I'm open to suggestions.
Besides trying to find an overprice Winchester action, what are my options? I've seen a few Mauser style actions from custom builders, but they are very expensive.
Primary use is going to be punching paper.
Only interested in something short action, unless there is a screaming bargain to be had.
Not at all interested in shooting right handed, and don't bother insulting Savage, you won't convince me.

Get a Tikka T3 Super Varmint SS LH in 308 or 6.5X55 ( latter is my my preference) and you are all set. Get a Near MFG Picatinnybase if you like Picatinny. Otherwise stick to Optilock rings which can be shimmed all you want.

The rifle is a LA because all T3s are but the stock is light so there are no real weight issues.

You will get detachble mag system too.

If you want to go to extremes get it in 308 and get AICS -type stock system from Roedale in Germany at www.roedale.com. Uses AICS skins and mags but is made for Tikka T3 barreled action. Let them know it will be for a LH rifle.

I would get the Super Varmint and use it as is.

Funny thing is I have a LH SS Tikka.
It's in 300WSM, and I am trying to sell it because of the light weight/recoil.
How hard/expensive is it to change the bolt face and barrel on these rifles? Maybe I should just sell and buy a different caliber?

Decreasing the size of a magnum bolt is not very cost effective. Changing the barrel is easier than for a Rem 700.

if you go with a remington 700 sa i have a mcmillan htg in gap camo m40a1 barrel channel inleted for badger m5 in lefty still in the box.
