Flunked college algebra the first time I took it. Due to a better professor and more hard work, got an "A" the second time I took it.

I sure hope I'm correct or Dr. Woodward will be disappointed.

I took Calc I, II, III, and Differential equations (along with a few others) and I still had to go over it a few times to make sure my order of operations was right.

That being said the answer is clearly -7.82

Kinda surprised, considering how heavily our shooting relies on math skills, and only 60% thus far have gotten it correct. (I'm 93% sure that 73% statistic falls into the old "81% of statistics are made up" saying). The correct answer is 20, as many of you commented, you must remember your order of operations (PEMDAS or other saying to help remember it) which gets broken down into three tiers, each of which must be fully completed before the next can be started. First tier is the Parentheses and Exponents, followed by second tier which is Multiplication and Division, than lastly, the third tier of addition and subtraction.


The equation
4 x 4 + 4 x 4 + 4 - 4 x 4 =

First Tier- Parentheses and Exponents
- None apply so move to tier two

Second Tier- Multiplication and Division
4 x 4 + 4 x 4 + 4 - 4 x 4 =
= 16 + 16 + 4 - 16 = After Tier two is complete.

Third Tier- Addition and Subtraction
16 + 16 + 4 - 16 = After Tier two is complete.
= 20 After Tier three is complete.

Or
0010100 in binary as some stated above. Not even going to get into Hex, I'll be honest I had to Google that one.

Sitting here with a laptop and at a "normal" viewing angle, the 20 does not appear. However, once I begin to angle the screen in different way, 20 does show up. But it takes some work!
