It's refreshing to see such a unique left-handed M40A1 style build, thank you for posting it! Even though it's obviously not clone correct, it's still a very unique and respectful build that captures the spirit of the M40A1 while making it useful for lefties. I like this a lot, it's good to change things up at times and just have fun with a build.
Thank you! I tried to have it as clone correct as possible with the exception of being left handed. It was definitely a fun project! Although the scope and mount were a pain. The scope mount is from TBA. Seems to be holding up just fine.
What are these from? Maybe m40a3?? I have several sets of low serial numbered usmc issued rings with simrad caps that came with unertl cmp auction scopes. The rings and simrads were pulled off and the scopes were the used on m40a1 builds. The simads and rings were all painted up and I don't want to go scraping looking for numbers. Thanks
Hey folks, not too sure where to ask this. But i have an idea for a clone-ish build. An M40A5 but in 300wm. Would the surefire muzzle break handle 300wm?? I don’t see why not, but before spending money i figure id ask.

I have one MB762SS on a .300 Ultra Mag and another MB762SS on a 7mm Remington Mag, firing a SureFire FA762SS on each. No issues to date.
That said… PRIOR TO FIRING, I would strongly recommend mounting your Suppressor on each and every rifle you plan to use it on and checking for proper alignment with an appropriately sized alignment rod to identify potential baffle strike before the fact.

Question: I’m doing a MARSOC A3 build with DD Ross metal. Should I roll with E or G prefix?
The Marines started getting E prefix receivers around 1999/2000, and they received a large order of E receivers in 2001. The Marines got a ton of G prefix receivers in 2005, which is right around the time MARSOC was using their customized A3's (I can't remember the exact year off the top of my head). So, you really can't go wrong with either prefix, but the E prefix could be more prevalent in the actual rifles. Remember, E676xxxx is easily the best known A3 serial number range, and is immediately recognizable to any M40 collector/clone builder. When in doubt, always go with an E676xxxx receiver for an A3!
Slowly but surely acquiring parts. All take offs and snagged an original gary schnieder barrel today. On the hunt for a take off A3/A5 stock if anyone has a lead please let me know!

Not a m40 but it's still an amazing piece of USMC sniper history. I was thrilled to send couple rounds down range with this genuine XM-3 at buddy's facility down in Texas. Beautiful rifle.

I'd recommend posting a few photos of the rifle and maybe even a range report (with photos of targets too) in one of the XM3 threads that we have open on this forum. Some people specifically subscribe to threads they enjoy, and they'll get a new post notification for that thread if you post your XM3 in an XM3 thread. You're rifle is too nice to get buried in an M40xx thread, and it will keep this thread on track with the M40xx theme. A lot of people will be able to see your photos and information if you post it in an XM3 specific thread, so that's just my suggestion.
Thanks for the compliment! I will repost it in the xm3 thread. Unfortunately I wasn't able to shoot a grouping out of it, but my buddy confirmed it still shoots true and accurate.
Few more parts trickling in. Still on the hunt for an issued take off stock and she’s ready to be bred into something special. Please let me know if anyone has a lead on one!
