Yes I know you are probably rolling your eyes as you read this. I'm sure it's been beaten to death 100 times. I have been loading for a few years now and finally want to take the next step and see if I can stretch my max range out to 1000 yards. I have been using hornady dies up until this point and have been satisfied this far. I guess my question is should I night the bullet and buy Redding Does for the 260? I'm currently looking at the Redding Premium Series Deluxe 3 Die Set. I have absolutely zero experience with Redding.
I am currently able to load my 25-06 to the .3s with the hornady dies. What do y'all think?
The 260 is a Tikka T3 TSR-1. I'm currently getting .6 groups with the factory Federal 142 grain SMK load.

Here is a pic of the gun just because lol

I've got Hhidden dies for my .260 and they work very well.

Still while nice dies are nice to use, I'm not sure I understand how your Horanady's limit you. How well does the ammo you produce now shoot at 100 yards?
I shoot .3s in my 25-06 I just want something a little nicer with a competition seater

I have a Redding type S die set for my 260 AI with Competition die seater. It's been a great die set. Rifle shoots in the .3's and .4's with handloads.

I have the basic Redding 260 dies, fl sizer and basic seater. I'm going to upgrade to the Forester Ultra micrometer seating die and Redding type s bushing neck sizer. Nothing wrong with what I have just want to try the bushing neck sizing to get different neck tension if needed and the Forester seater to set oal a bit more consistently.

I'm not much of a redding fan these days, although i own many sets. I also like Forster and whidden. Sounds like your die set is working just fine. Unless youre looking for additional features, like a micrometer seater or a bushing sizer for example, save your money.

My 260 R700 bolt rifle gets a Forster 308 bushing NS Shoulder Bump sizing die. My 260 GAP10G2 gets a Redding Type S full-length sizer. Seating duties are taken by a Forster micrometer seater.

I used Redding type S FL bushing die and Forster's micro seater when I reloaded for 260. Great ammo indeed. Sold the 260 and seater die. Still have a like new Redding type S if you don't mind buying one that is in like new condition for a discount.

I use Redding dies for my .260 but would recommend you go with Whidden or Forster. The competition seating die from Redding drives me fucking batty...if I use the Hornady OAL gauge (ogive measurement of OAL), and say it is set for 2.273. I can seat one bullet at 2.273. The next would be 2.275. The next would be 2.274.

It may very well be the neck tension on my cases, or variants in the ogives of the bullets (Lapua Scenars), but I really want to blame the Redding die. I have read of people having issues with the Redding "walking off" (seating to a completely different length) after seating several bullets.

Anyone else have any experience with this issue? I do know the Whidden dies are the shit. I'm getting them for my Creedmoor.

I just bought the redding premium deluxe set with Full length, neck and seater dies. Its my first set of redding dies. I'm pulling the trigger on my 260 MRAD barrel monday. I plan on buying a 200 rounds case of GMM for a up coming class I'll be taking and will reload them with 147 ELD-M & RL17. I'm excited to see my results. Guess I should have checked into Whidden dies first?

thats the exact opposite of what most everyone in this thread has mentioned. Forester Ultra micro meter seater is good to go, I'm going with the bushing neck sizer to try as well. Apparently Whidden is sloppy in their machining and some may get burs in their dies.

Ive used Hornady, RCBS, and Redding without issues. Never heard of issues with Forester so they are gtg in my book, I'll find out soon enough though.

Thanks for straighten me out!

Forster Ultra Seater and FL Sizing die. Least runout of any dies Ive tested including Redding.

All Forster rifle dies here and a Forster Co-Ax press. If I need it and Forster makes it, that's what I buy. Too bad they don't make pistol dies, I suppose RCBS will have to do.
