The 3-18x44 is available now. They are starting to ship the 1-6x with the 7.62 reticule, and should start trickling out to users soon. At the FB3G, I was able to see one that Jim Smith has on his personal carbine. VERY nice optic!

I want a combo 3-18x44/1-6x for my OBR both with the 7.62 CMR-W reticules.

I ordered my 1-6 in April 2012 for a June 2012 delivery. June 2012 has now become Jan 2013!

I do not have first hand knowledge to verify. The Leupold rep I spoke to said they should be soon, but Jan could be soon for him for all I know. I did see more than one example of this scope at the match. Wish I could help with more.

I'd recommend calling Leupold.

Not sure how that would help. I've had a rep tell me May, June, August, September and the latest (which was over a month ago) "before November..."

I am glad though that it seems to be getting positive reviews from the few units that are out there.

Not noticeable. At 1x, it functions much like an Aimpoint. The reticule is not noticeable until higher magnification.

We have gotten a few Leupold Mark 6 3-18x44mm over the past 1-1/2 months. We just got more of the 3-18x44mm with the H58 RET. this week.

I just noticed we do not have the H58 on the website but that will be added soon.

It’s a good question since the August 5th review of the 1-6x by Rob Curtis:

"<span style="color: #3366FF">As a result of using this new reticle etching process, the reticle displays some odd behavior when illuminated. The illuminator has an unforgivingly narrow field of presentation. Getting into shooting position, you’ll find you can move a little left, right, up and down before you can’t see out the other end of the optic. We’ll call the space you have to move in before the tube goes black your eye box. At 1x, with the illuminator on, as you move around in the eye box, the illumination will to flare and dim as you move your head out of the dead center of the eye box.

Leupold has identified this issue as an artifact of the holographic grating reticle technology and has figured out that the angle that the LED sits at in the LED housing is far more critical to illuminator performance than they first realized. They are adjusting their manufacturing to address this issue."</span>

So I don't know if the shipped scopes has this problem fixed.

I noticed that problem at SHOT. I thought the battery was dying, but the rep said that you had to be right behind it to see the illumination consistently....which I quietly marked down to myself as something they needed to fix before I bought one. Other than that, I really liked it. They better hurry, though, because the Vortex 1-6 and the Bushnell offerings are growing on me, which is a shame because I've already got a custom 1.5 inch high set of APA rings sized for the Leupy..

I was assuming that was the reason the scope was not released in the May/June timeframe that was advertised. I hope they got it right this first time or mine's going back.

Exactly! A bit surprised that they showed it that way since a generous eye box for the illuminated reticle would be absolutely critical for an optic like this. Agreed that it looks perfect other than that little problem. I give high marks to Rob Curtis for disclosing this.

After waiting several months, my Leupold 1-6x20mm CMR-W 7.62 reticle scope showed up. I wasn't expecting it so it was a GREAT surprise to come home too! It will be mounted on my 7.62 PredatOBR (that can show up unexpectedly anytime now as well) in a LaRue LT-120. I look forward to trying this scope out. I would go shoot it now but the conditions are well below my tolerable levels (40 and pouring!)

I'll post a better review once I get some trigger time, until then enjoy the pics!

Hmmm, I know he only had one picture of the illumination turned all the way up at 1x outside in the sunlight, but it looked pretty pitiful. I'd certainly like to see more images or hear more first hand reviews re the quality of the daylight illumination before buying one.

I hesitate to post an opinion, because my eyes are not original God design. I have replacements lenses in my eyes, so they don't act like ordinary eyes. Having said that here's my take.

I got the MK6 1x6 a couple of days ago. I really like this optic. Glass is very clear edge to edge. The illumination is definitely day light bright. Compared to an Aimpoint T1 - when the MK6 is on top power of 7 it's equal to the T1 at 9 - 10. (The T1 will go to 12 so the T1 does have a bit more top end.) But I did point the MK6 into the sky with the sun just out of the sight picture and on power 7 the orange/red dot was still visible. More than good enough for me. Outside during sunlight the crosshair of the reticle on 1x without illumination is still visible and usable should the battery go down.

The eye box is adequate, but not overly generous - on 1x it's still not a T1, but it will work great on a 16" 7.62 weapon system, which is what I'm using it on. If it shoots as well as my initial impression it's a winner all the way. If I had to kick in doors I'd sill want a lighter weight 556 weapon with a T1, but on my REPR it's almost perfect IMO.

The pictures that I've seen online thus far do not do the MK6 1x6 justice. I've never used or looked through the Swaro or Vortex 1x6 so I can't compare. But I like the low profile mil based turrets of the MK6 and think I'm going to like the CMR-W reticle as well.

Regarding the eye box, does it seem as though it will be satisfactory when shooting from unconventional positions? I know it's early yet, feedback appreciated after you've had a chance to work with it a bit more.

I spent quite a bit of time yesterday comparing the MK6 with an S&B PMII 3x12x50. Yeah I know, apples and oranges, but after having done so I was even more impressed with the MK6. The S&B glass is better no doubt, but not by as large a margin as I expected.

BTW don't mis-understand me, the illuminated dot on the Mk6 is bright enough for day time use, but NOT on low power. It's a very bright day today where I'm at and I would run the MK6 dial at 6 - 7. And 7 is it's brightest setting. And the 7 would approximate the 10 setting on an Aimpoint T1 - though the T1 will go to 12.

The thing to remember and what I've observed is if I point the MK6 illuminated dot at a bright object that the sun is flashing off of, even if the dot washes out, the reticle in the MK6 seems to pop out at those moments. So you always seem to have an aiming point.

I took a long time to make sure I had the right scope placement, when I was setting up the scope to weapon mounting. If I'm consistent with my cheek placement the eye box is more than sufficient, even when laying on my side. (As if you were shooting under a car or just over the curb - strong or weakside.) I didn't feel like I was ever fighting with the optic. It's just that the illumination will fade in and out if I over or under tilt my head. And the way my artificial lens in my eye is designed I think it would bother me more than a normal person.

Also, remember the dot on 1x is in essence a 7 moa dot, so it's a bit easier to pick up than a 2 - 4 moa Aimpoint dot.

Like I said, it's not as forgiving as a traditional red dot sight, but I still think I'm really going to like this scope.

Not necessarily, if you want the option to snap shoot a sudden target that appears at close range, say 50m when you have your scope dialed to 6x at that present moment. Just have to weigh the "bulkiness" and weight penalty.

IMO the the ballistic part of the reticle is not useable at 1x but the bold lines of the crosshair is usable as a backup aiming point.

On 1x if you have a proper cheek weld there is no distortion to the image. It is clear and operates similar to a Aimpoint/EOTech red dot optic. It's just that the eye box of the MK6 is more restricting than a standard non-magnifiable red dot sight. Hope that makes sense.

Only had it out once. Spent most of my time sighting in and getting POA/POI changes for various loads from my main load zero. Only shot it out to 200 (range limit) and the glass and reticle is great. Ran the turrets up and down quite a bit and everything is tracking fine or at least returning to my zero.

Shot my last 40 rounds doing moving drills on 1x illumination on. Again the scope is being used on a REPR 7.62 system, and I found that I tend to over-rotate the weapon during multiple rounds fired, and the eye box would fade to black. But it's has more to do with practicing recoil management than it is a limitation on the scope.

Not much of an update, but I still really like the scope and look forward to using it more. Won't have a time to really stretch it out long range for a month or so.
