Leupold Mk 4 mil dot range estimation.

Does anybody know what the magnification on the Leupold Mk4, 4.5x14x50 mil dot scope is used for mil dot range estimation. Every article I have read says is "should" be 14x, but I haven't seen anything that confirms it. If somebody can point me in the right direction to where I can find the answer that would be awesome.

Draw 3.6" at 100y and mil it?

I have one and it is at the max magnification where ranging is accurate.

I've got two of them. Max magnification - 14X. You can do the exercise that straydog suggests to give yourself an assurance but Leupold says that you use Max (14X) for that scope. That worked great for me over the 15 years or so that I actively used them.... they have both been relegated to the storage chest.
